Areas of interest include venture-backed startups, sports ownership, oil and gas, entertainment finance, small, cash-flow positive business recaps, and other niche opportunities often unavailable to traditional investors.

I am an attorney (not your attorney), investor, and operator with experience across multiple private-market sectors. Prior experience includes leadership roles at ConocoPhillips and Chesapeake Energy, serving as General Counsel of an institutional investment management firm managing more than $1.2 billion in assets, operating a producing oil and gas company, and investing across startups, sports clubs, films, and real estate.

Selected experience includes:

• Founding investor in Novus Capital, an Oklahoma-based community bank startup

• Participation in interests across 800+ oil and gas wells (WI, RI, and ORRI interests)

• Owner of Keoughans Producing, an oil production company

• Investor in NK Tabor United, Carrick Rangers FC, and Minnesota Aurora FC

• Negotiation of ownership and option structures with clubs across Europe (Wales, England, Gibraltar)

• Investments in more than 50 private companies

• Executive Producer, Associate Producer, financier, and advisor roles across multiple independent film projects

I invest personal capital alongside syndicate members whenever practical and focus on opportunities where downside protection, unique access, or asymmetric return potential may exist.

Areas of interest include venture-backed startups, sports ownership, oil and gas (direct participation in newly drilled horizontal wells or reworked vertical wells), entertainment finance (feature genre films, ususally horror/suspense for outperformance compared to other genres), and other niche opportunities that are often unavailable to most investors.

Prior experience includes a General Counsel role at an institutional investment management firm with over $1.2B AUM, management roles at ConocoPhillips and Chesapeake Energy, participation in hundreds of oil and gas wells, operation of a producing energy company, investments in more than 50 startups, advisory roles with early-stage companies and film projects, and investments in sports clubs and alternative assets.

The goal of this syndicate is simple: identify compelling opportunities, perform thorough diligence, invest personal capital alongside investors whenever possible, and provide transparent analysis throughout the process.
