The idea and the product
The idea began in 2020, when a property owner tried renting out his second home but found short-term rentals too time-consuming to manage alongside his business. Listing on Airbnb seemed easy but syncing calendars, setting the right prices, and replying to guest messages quickly became overwhelming. In 2022, Ruralis was born to handle everything a property owner needs to succeed - making short-term renting simple, scalable, and stress-free.
We built an intuitive platform that connects to 100+ travel agencies, adjusts pricing based on demand, manages bookings, guest communication, payments, and connects owners with local service providers. We focus solely on digital solutions, leaving on-site tasks to owners, enabling a more sustainable model and a more authentic guest experience.
The market has shown a strong response: in 2024, Ruralis increased its turnover by 3.5X compared to 2023. In 2025, we're on track to hit $3.5M in sales, maintaining a consistent 3.5X growth rate.

Customers reviews
Thanks to our high-quality customer experience, Ruralis maintains a strong customer retention rate. To date, our average quarterly retention rate is 88%, reinforced by consistently positive user reviews.

Support & investor interest
In 2023, Ruralis raised $530K from 88 investors, including $260K from a U.S. investor who recognized our vision and the vast untapped potential of the vacation rental market.
Additionally, two publicly traded companies, an Italian S.P.A. and a Swiss firm, have shown informal acquisition interest, signaling early recognition of Ruralis' value and scalability. Ruralis is also backed by actor and martial artist Taimak Guarriello from “The Last Dragon”, who is helping amplify brand visibility and expand market reach.
The short-term rental market
In 2024, the U.S. short-term rental market was valued at $68.64 billion, with Italy at $5.82 billion. While this booming industry presents major opportunities, millions of owners lack the technological support and expertise to effectively maximize their rentals.

Competition
The vacation rental market is divided between:
I. Full-service property managers, which fail to effectively leverage digital strategies, rely on costly operations that reduce owner profits, and often lead to a lower-quality guest experience.
II. Digital solutions that primarily serve urban markets or fragmented tools that manage only bookings, pricing, or payments separately - forcing property owners to juggle multiple systems.

Why the U.S.?
We’re an Italian company with global ambition. We chose the U.S. to launch our campaign because it offers greater access to capital, a tech-forward culture, and investors who believe in scalable, mission-driven startups.

Why NY State?
I. Short-term rental market – It offers premium nightly rates and consistently high occupancy levels, supported by an established vacation rental culture.
II. Market trends – There is high demand for countryside stays, driven by digital nomads and outdoor enthusiasts. Proximity to major metropolitan areas, such as New York City, further fuels this interest.
III. Strategic networks – Strong Italian-American communities and business networks can provide support through local partnerships and facilitate market entry.
IV. Regulatory environment – Compared to stricter urban short-term rental regulations, New York State offers a more stable and business-friendly legislative framework, ensuring long-term scalability.
Italian market consolidation
Ruralis aims to solidify its position as the leading platform for vacation rentals in Italy. Our growth strategy focuses on strategic investments in Marketing, Sales, and Product. A mix of organic social media, PR, and selective paid advertising will boost brand awareness and drive acquisition. Additionally, we are enhancing brand retention through platform upgrades, new service offerings (e.g., insurance), and targeted initiatives (e.g., referral programs).

Use of funds
We are raising capital to take our first step into the high-demand U.S. vacation rental market. With strong traction, a $2.97B market opportunity, and a proven AI-powered platform, this funding will help us accelerate expansion, and establish Ruralis as the leading PropTech solution for short-term rentals.

Social impact
Ruralis is committed to revitalising communities through short-renting, strengthening local businesses, and fostering sustainable growth. Our product is well-suited for urban clients, but we focus our marketing efforts primarily on non-urban areas, in line with our vision of promoting a more sustainable planet.
The company actively contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and plays a key role in policy-making.
