I can’t wait to try the new Dermasport sunscreens! Are they going to be reef-safe?

Hi Lily, great question—none of the new sunscreens contain oxybenzone or octinoxate, two ingredients linked to coral bleaching. That said, the SPF 50 Clear Body Spray and SPF 30 Lip Balm do include avobenzone and octocrylene, which are banned in Hawaii. For reef-safe protection, your best bet is Dermasport’s SPF 50 Facial Sunscreen, SPF 30 Mineral Body Spray, or SPF 30 Daily Facial Moisturizer—all made with only non-nano zinc oxide or titanium dioxide.

Why did Dermasport start with swimmers for their proof of concept?

Great question - We decided to launch our proof of concept with swimmers because, of all athletes, the aquatics community faces some of the toughest skin challenges due to constant exposure to the sun, wind, cold, and harsh chemicals like chlorine, bromine, and salt. We knew that if Dermasport could effectively protect, hydrate, and renew a swimmer’s skin, it could help athletes of all kinds overcome their own skincare struggles.
