Meet Drew Henry
February 27, 2025
We were lucky to catch up with Drew Henry recently and have shared our conversation below.
Drew, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
Resilience for me was forged through experience. Growing up, football was my first love, but by the time I graduated high school, I’d undergone five knee surgeries. Each one required long and grueling rehab—a process that taught me to embrace the journey, not just focus on the outcome.
That lesson has served me well in running Revival Tea Company. Entrepreneurship is full of setbacks, but those early experiences taught me to stay committed, love the process, and find growth in the challenges. Whether it’s scaling the business or pivoting when things don’t go as planned, resilience has been my foundation.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m Drew Henry, founder and CEO of Revival Tea Company, where we’re on a mission to bring bold craft tea to the forefront of modern beverage culture. What started as a passion project in Spokane, WA, has grown into a multi-channel brand that’s redefining how people think about tea. We believe tea isn’t just a drink—it’s a moment, a ritual, and an experience.
What excites me most about Revival is the community we’re building around our teas. Whether it’s through our Tasting Room, our wholesale partnerships, or our growing online presence, we’re focused on creating products that not only taste amazing but also bring people together. It’s this connection with people that fuels everything we do.
Professionally, I’m focused on scaling Revival Tea Company in a way that remains true to our core values while meeting the demands of a growing market. We’ve recently shifted to a co-packing model, which has allowed us to focus on innovation and expand into new markets.
On a personal note, my journey with Revival is deeply tied to my belief in resilience and the power of community. Running a business isn’t without its challenges, but I’ve learned to embrace the process, find joy in the small wins, and stay committed to our vision of being the new face of tea in the U.S. and beyond.
If there’s one thing I’d love for folks to know about Revival, it’s that we’re not just here to sell tea—we’re here to create moments that matter. And with new products, partnerships, and plans for expansion in the works, the best is yet to come. Welcome to the Revival.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, three key qualities have been most impactful in my journey: resilience, adaptability, and a focus on long-term vision.
1. Resilience
Running a business like Revival Tea Company has tested my resilience time and again. From navigating the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic to dealing with a failed acquisition that fell apart at the last minute, resilience has been the foundation that kept us moving forward. It’s about staying steady during chaos, looking for opportunities in setbacks, and continuing to push forward when things don’t go as planned. My advice? Build resilience by focusing on solutions rather than problems, and always have a plan to pivot when needed.
2. Adaptability
Adaptability has been crucial, especially as we outgrew our initial production facility and had to scale our manufacturing processes quickly to keep up with demand. Every stage of growth has required us to reassess, retool, and adapt to new realities. For those early in their journey, I’d suggest embracing change as part of the process. The ability to quickly pivot and make data-driven decisions can make or break a business.
3. Long-Term Vision
Challenges like the pandemic or operational scaling issues can feel overwhelming in the moment, but keeping a long-term perspective has been critical. For Revival, this has meant staying focused on our mission to become the new face of tea while taking incremental steps to get there. My advice? Develop a clear vision for your business and use it as your north star during tough times. It will help you prioritize and make decisions that align with your ultimate goals.
For anyone starting out, remember that setbacks are inevitable in business, but they’re also opportunities to refine your strategy, strengthen your processes, and ultimately grow. The ability to stay resilient, adapt, and maintain a clear vision will make all the difference.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
One book that has played a pivotal role in my development is Pour Your Heart Into It by Howard Schultz. Schultz’s journey in building Starbucks into a global brand while staying true to his core values resonated deeply with me as an entrepreneur.
One of the most impactful lessons from the book is the importance of staying authentic to your mission and vision, even as you scale. Schultz talks about the need to create not just a product but an experience. This inspired me to focus on making Revival Tea Company about more than just tea—it’s about creating meaningful moments for our customers.
Another takeaway was Schultz’s commitment to leading with passion and purpose. He wasn’t just selling coffee; he was sharing his belief in the power of connection and community. This reminded me that building a brand isn’t just about numbers—it’s about creating something people can truly connect with.
Finally, the idea that success isn’t linear really stuck with me. Schultz shares stories of rejection, challenges, and risks that paid off over time. It’s a powerful reminder that setbacks—like the ones we’ve faced at Revival, from scaling manufacturing to navigating a pandemic—are just part of the journey.
For anyone looking to build something impactful, Pour Your Heart Into It is a masterclass in balancing ambition with authenticity. It’s a reminder that passion, resilience, and a clear mission can turn even the smallest idea into something extraordinary.
