Leading the Revival For Tea in the U.S.

In 2018, in the heart of Spokane, Washington, a new aroma filled the air—one that signaled promise, innovation, and the start of a new era in America’s tea culture.

Founder and CEO Drew Henry originally set out to open a whiskey distillery, inspired by a family heritage of distilling in Northern Ireland. However, while enjoying up to six cups of tea daily—far more than the occasional glass of whiskey—Drew realized something was missing. The craft movement had revolutionized whiskey, coffee, and beer, but tea, the third most consumed beverage in the U.S., remained overlooked, viewed as outdated and uninspired by today’s consumers.

Recognizing this gap, Drew and his wife Cerina made a bold pivot. In the eleventh hour before launching the distillery, they set their sights on revitalizing the tea industry, bringing the artistry and innovation of craft beverages to tea. This mission became the foundation of Revival Tea—a movement to redefine how tea is experienced and enjoyed.

A Massive Untapped Market

Tea is the third most consumed beverage in the United States, yet it remains vastly underserved compared to coffee and craft beer. There are only 233 tea manufacturers in the U.S., compared to over 3,000 coffee manufacturers and 9,000 craft breweries. Last year, U.S. tea sales exceeded $13 billion—a significant figure that highlights its growing traction as it steadily gains ground on the $71 billion coffee industry.

More and more consumers are seeking alternatives with less caffeine, no energy crashes, and a wider range of flavors, fueling tea’s rise in popularity. The U.S. tea market has shown steady growth, with an anticipated compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3-5% in the coming years. Projections indicate revenue will reach $16.39 billion by 2024, solidifying tea as a dynamic and evolving segment of the beverage industry.

From Humble Beginnings to Global Reach

Drew and Cerina began their journey into tea in their home kitchen, spending late nights blending after long workdays. Fueled by a passion for innovation and quality, they launched a successful Kickstarter campaign that introduced their Fresh Crafted Spiced Chai to the world. Within the first 60 days, they had shipped their signature blend to 24 countries and every U.S. state.

In those early days, they worked out of an FDA-approved commissary kitchen shared with food truck vendors, demonstrating resourcefulness and commitment to their craft. These humble beginnings laid the foundation for the bold, thriving brand that Revival Tea has become today.

From Farmers Markets to a Vision for the Future

Drew and Cerina took their craft teas to local farmers markets, where the response was overwhelming. Word spread quickly, and it became clear that demand was strong for their unique approach to tea. This success highlighted the need for a dedicated storefront—a third space where people could gather, connect, and enjoy tea in a welcoming environment.

Revival Tea’s mission is to redefine the tea experience. With warm, inviting tasting rooms, Revival is creating a space for tea lovers to discover bold flavors, share moments, and connect with a growing community that celebrates the art of tea.

Breaking New Ground: The First Tasting Room and a Strategic Shift

In February 2020, Revival Tea Company opened its first tasting room in Downtown Spokane, offering a warm, inviting space for tea enthusiasts to gather. Business thrived, and the growing demand required an expanded team to keep up.

Then, the world came to a halt as COVID-19 disrupted businesses everywhere. Faced with unprecedented challenges, Revival quickly pivoted, focusing on building its online platform and forging wholesale partnerships with grocery stores and drive-thru chains. This strategic shift not only sustained the business but also laid the groundwork for long-term growth.

Scaling Operations for Growth

By the end of 2021, as the business emerged stronger from the pandemic, Revival Tea Company faced a new challenge: keeping up with its growing demand. To support its expanded operations, the team established a larger production facility dedicated to blending, packaging, and shipping their craft teas. Over the next two years, Revival focused on building out and scaling this facility to meet the needs of its rapidly growing customer base, laying the foundation for even greater success.

Expanding Products and Locations

Between 2022 and 2023, Revival Tea Company experienced explosive growth, nearly doubling its business each year. This period marked the addition of new product offerings and the opening of two more locations, including an unexpected opportunity to expand into boba tea.

Revival had already introduced boba drinks in its downstairs tasting room, where demand quickly grew. When an ice cream shop directly upstairs decided to relocate, Revival seized the chance to take over the lease. With a few modifications, they transformed the space into a dedicated Boba Bar, allowing them to test the concept on a larger scale. The venture proved a massive success, with menu items that quickly became the company’s best-selling drinks.

Expanding to New Markets

In June 2023, Revival Tea Company opened its third location in the picturesque resort town of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. This marked an exciting step in testing new markets and exploring innovative ways to engage customers. The Coeur d’Alene location combined a tasting room, retail space, and boba offerings, creating a unique, multi-functional tea destination.

The decision to open in Coeur d’Alene was strategic, targeting a vibrant community known for its tourism and year-round visitors. This location allowed Revival to showcase its full range of offerings, from signature craft teas to the wildly popular boba drinks, all in a single space.

The early success of the Coeur d’Alene store reinforced the potential for Revival’s hybrid model, blending experiential retail with grab-and-go convenience. It also provided valuable insights into customer behavior in a resort market, further validating the scalability of Revival’s brand in diverse settings.

Signature Series of Teas

A company is only as strong as the team behind it, and we’re proud to have built a truly exceptional group of advisors who bring unmatched expertise and vision to Revival Tea:

Our Strong Group of Advisors to our CEO

Chip Overstreet - A seasoned executive and CEO of Spiceology, Chip grew the company from $3M to $18M in just four years. He brings expertise in branding, marketing, business development, and scaling successful businesses.

Kevin Parker - An early and highly successful Dutch Bros franchisee, Kevin offers deep knowledge of building retail beverage brands, market trends, and customer preferences.

James Mackness - Founder of Motovotono and a seasoned tea manufacturer, James ensures the quality and consistency of Revival Tea’s blends, leveraging decades of production expertise.

Skye Henderson - As a partner at Cowles Ventures, Skye provides strategic insights into venture capital, fundraising, and business development, helping shape Revival Tea’s long-term growth strategy.

As distributor and grocery partnerships grew, purchase orders the size of a month's revenue began to roll in, pushing Revival Tea to quickly outgrow its manufacturing capabilities. At this critical juncture, James Mackness stepped in, facilitating the transition to co-packing at his facility in Anacortes, WA. This move streamlined operations, reduced costs per unit, and improved quality while maintaining the integrity of our signature blends. Additionally, our popular liquid chai concentrate is being transitioned into a powdered chai format, making it more accessible for retail, wholesale, and e-commerce customers nationwide.

Offloading manufacturing was a pivotal milestone, allowing us to shift to a 3PL for shipping. This transition significantly reduced overhead and labor costs, enabling us to operate more efficiently and focus on scaling key revenue channels. With these changes in place, we are on track to achieve profitability by late 2025.

In just six years, Revival Tea has become the fastest-growing tea company in the U.S. Our focus remains on building a profitable, sustainable business poised to thrive for generations to come.

In recent months, we’ve made significant strides in expanding our online presence and digital marketing initiatives. Our Amazon storefront has gained traction, while PPC ads, SEO improvements, and optimized email flows continue to drive meaningful growth. These efforts, led by industry experts, have transformed our online channels into a powerhouse of opportunity.

We are now projecting our e-commerce and online sales to exceed 7-figure revenue annually within the next 12 months. The impact of these efforts is already evident, with consistent increases in traffic, conversions, and revenue across all platforms.

Drive-thru models have proven highly successful for brands like Starbucks and Dutch Bros., offering lower overhead, smaller footprints, and reduced staffing requirements. Inspired by these successes, Revival is focused on developing an in-store retail and drive-thru combination model tailored to warm weather markets, with a special emphasis on iced tea offerings.

In 2026, we plan to open our flagship store-front/drive-thru concept to fine-tune key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational efficiencies. This location will serve as a model for future expansion, allowing us to collect valuable data and optimize the concept before scaling further. Additionally, we plan to host prospective franchisees at this location to provide firsthand insights and answer questions.

Our long-term vision includes opening 50 franchised stores over the next 10 years, starting on the West Coast and gradually expanding to the central and eastern U.S., where tea enjoys strong consumer interest. We’ve already received inquiries from individuals eager to open Revival Tea franchises both nationally and internationally.

Unlike traditional franchise models, Revival is committed to offering hands-on support to ensure each location aligns seamlessly with our core mission and operational standards. Franchisees will benefit from consistent guidance and access to Revival Tea’s proprietary products, creating a unified experience that upholds our brand promise.

Our Tasting Rooms Have Become a 'Third Space'

With the outsourcing of our manufacturing and fulfillment, we have streamlined operations, enabling our team to focus entirely on driving growth through marketing, sales, and scaling our key revenue channels. Every dollar of capital raised will be strategically invested in initiatives designed to fuel sustainable expansion and profitability. These initiatives include:

  • Scaling our e-commerce and Amazon platforms to reach 7-figure revenue within the next 12 months.
  • Expanding wholesale partnerships with distributors, grocery chains, and foodservice providers.
  • Enhancing digital marketing efforts to grow our online presence and drive revenue.
  • Developing new and innovative product offerings to meet evolving consumer demand.
  • Building inventory to support our rapid growth across all channels.

While nothing is guaranteed, we are confident in our ability to significantly grow our sales year over year. With your support, we can accelerate our trajectory and continue revolutionizing tea culture in the U.S. and beyond.

At its core, Revival Tea is more than just a brand—it's a movement. With a bold approach to flavor and quality. And with projected profitability on the horizon, there has never been a better time to invest in the future of tea.
