Update from Emily

Published on Nov 7, 2019

Hello everyone!

Just returned home after a few weeks on the ground in Barcelona, Paris, & London. The feedback we’ve seen from our videos has been amazing: people are showing wonderful support for our coverage, also pointing out that they haven’t seen the stories or perspectives we show covered by mainstream media. We also gained more paid subscribers in response to these pieces.

We’ve been covering a lot on the ground recently due to an unusually high number of important stories and movements unfolding right now. We’ve been fortunate enough to add some new contributors to our network reporting from places like Lebanon while laying the groundwork for more contributors in other areas around the world.

These aren’t the kind of relationships that develop overnight, and it does take time to vet contributors if we don’t already have a pre-established relationship with them. The number of people eager to get involved with us to build our network and add to our coverage shows how starved this industry has been for honest, boots-on-the-ground reporting that is fully independent and doesn’t have any interests behind the scenes pushing an agenda.

As the 2020 election season ramps up, we’ll be expanding our coverage of the candidates and issues that voters care about to bypass mainstream media echo chambers we witnessed in 2016. As someone who dropped out of school four years ago to follow the candidates across the country with a camera (often sleeping in cars and on couches), I’m excited to see what we can do this time around with more experience, equipment, and crew.

We have a lot of exciting developments coming in the next few weeks. Thanks for your support and stay tuned for more!
