Being an Angel feels like one of the luckiest things you can do. You get to give somebody money, and there is hardly a better return. And you can see that they can begin their idea that they have thought about for ages; so what gratitude, you cannot get any much better than that. So you give someone money; then you watch as they grow.
The most gratifying thing is they evolve through this process of spending learning, building a team, asking for advice. And you 'sorta' of get to be part of this ride again; you do not have to do all of this heavy lifting of building something, but you get to help somebody take their nugget of an idea and grow as a person with a little bit of your capital. And hopefully that turns into more capital. But seeing the arc of individual as they move through the phase of beginning a business is the best thing ever, and you feel like part of it--and you got to put a little bit of money in and maybe help--it's fabulous.
