Our Founder

🍻 Born in Brussels, brewed in Barcelona


Barna Brew was born in 2017. We brew traditional Belgian-style beers with a modern and local touch. Our brewpub is known for our fascinating atmosphere, award-winning beers and delicious food. In addition to being located in the heart of the trendy, central Sant Antoni district in the city of Barcelona.

Our Beer

There's nothing like our beer in Barcelona -- just a few local craft breweries in the city but none that specialize in Belgian beers. Our high quality derives from perfecting classic, Belgian recipes and then adding local flavors like orange blossom honey or bay leaves.

Our beers have won multiple awards like our Rossa, Moreneta, and Pils Parlament which have won gold at the Brussels Beer Challenge, Barcelona Beer Challenge and CICA (Concurso Internacional de Cervezas) . We're constantly experimenting with new recipes like our last 2 seasonsal beers: 5aison made with Szechuan pepper and orange flower, and a Grisette made with chamomile.

The Market

It wasn't easy to break into the market but in Spain since COVID, 83% of beers are consumed outside of the home (versus 85% in 2019), compared to 63% in the UK or 35% in the US. Barna Brew's brewpub provides a great atmosphere that attracts locals from around the city.

Here's a look at the brewpub on any normal Friday or Saturday night. Like most other restaurants and bars, we took a hit during COVID when we couldn't serve guests, but we've seen solid growth since 2020 and 2021. In fact, we're starting to outgrow our Sant Antoni location.

COVID forced us to explore new distribution options besides our taproom sales. We started canning our beers and have seen our outside sales more than double from 2021 to 2022 (as of Sept).

What's next for Barna Brew?

We have wanted to open more Barna Brew bars across the city, and feel now is the right time. We have brewpub clients who want to open a 2nd bar with us so we want that to be the first step in a larger retail expansion across the city.

With the success of our cans (we have just run out of our pilsner, IPA and Blond), we want to up our canning production, and bring back successful styles like our Blanca (witbier) and SantonIPA (East Coast IPA), as well as can our famous Moreneta and upcoming seasonal beers!
