Scott Weiland’s Newspaper Days Remembered Fondly

Scott Weiland’s Newspaper Days Remembered

If the name Scott Weiland rings a bell, it’s probably because he’s had a very successful musical career, first as the frontman for the Stone Temple Pilots (1989-2013) and again as the lead singer for popular supergroup band Velvet Revolver (2003-2008).

A little known fact about Weiland was that he began his professional career in the newspaper industry. LA Weekly wrote an article remembering Weiland back in the late 1980s when he worked for the Los Angeles Daily Journal. They reported that he was a layout artist for a few years before leaving the industry to focus on his music.

He has been named as one of the most influential musicians of all time, but it seemed like he never forgot his roots. His former colleagues recalled running into him at an airport and Weiland remembered them all and more.

Unfortunately Weiland passed away on December 3, 2015 in Bloomington, Minnesota. The music industry mourns for Weiland and the newspaper industry should too.
