Once upon a time, accountants simply “managed the books” for a company, taking care of financial matters and rarely touching anything related to benefits or HR.

But times have changed.

These days, accountants have grown into a more strategic role, advising businesses on the financial impact of HR-related issues like hiring, firing, and anything else that affects business growth. In fact, accountants are one of our top partners here at Zenefits.

Which is why we’re excited to spend more time together this week at the QuickBooks Connect conference in San Jose, California. The conference’s agenda includes sessions on hiring and firing, networking, and persuasion, in addition to traditional training on QuickBooks and accounting practices.

1) We share the same customers.

Quickbooks offers a platform to solve accounting challenges that a small business can face. Zenefits, an all-in-one HR platform, provides a solution to a company’s benefits and HR problems. So, as one would imagine, we have a lot of small business customers in common.

2) We aim to make our accounting partners look good.

To meet this goal, we launched Zenefits for Accountants, a program offered to accountants who want to provide customers with benefits and HR resources, as well as payroll and tax advice.

One of the program’s perks includes having access to a partner from our accountant partnership team, who is available to answer individual questions about payroll integration, benefits, ACA compliance, and other HR concerns. While we’re most excited about touching base with our customers and partners at the Quickbooks Connect event, we’re also pretty pumped to hear Oprah Winfrey’s words of wisdom on Tuesday, November 3rd at 4:15 pm. As an icon for self-improvement, we hope to bring back some tips from Oprah to help our customers not only achieve their goals, but thrive while doing so.
