Bond helps in an emergency

When we last posted a case, there were a number of comments expressing interest in hearing more. With that in mind, we’d like to share another instance where Bond helped save a member’s life.

Case Summary: A Bond member is walking home from work.

She activates Ready An Agent service, which allows her to be looked after by Bond. If she releases her finger from the screen, that will initiate a 5 second count down, during which she needs to enter her pass code in order to inform Bond that she is OK. If she does not enter the pass code, a Bond Personal Security Agent will appear on her phone screen via video in order to check on her and help.

At some point, the member releases the screen. She does not enter her pass code.

A Bond Personal Security Agent (BPSA) who was looking after her notices that she is in a park. She activates a video call with the member to gain situational awareness.

What appears on the screen of the BPSA is the sky above the park.

Apparently, the member’s phone is on the ground, facing the sky.

Next to the phone there appears to be a large dark object, on the ground.

The BPSA assumes that may be the member.

An uncomfortable moment in the Bond Command Center.

One click automatically connects the BPSA to the local 911 PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point – one of 6,000 PSAPs in the USA).

The BPSA speaks with the 911 dispatch and notifies him that we have a member down, likely due to an epileptic seizure. The BPSA shares the member’s location.

The 911 dispatch sends medics to the park.

Bond guides them to the park and in the park to the location of the unconscious member.

They find her and help her out.

Note that 911 was not aware of the member’s existence, emergency or location.

Bond was looking after her at her request. Detected, alerted and orchestrated 911.

Good ending. She is safe.

Insights:

  1. Bond is able to look after members when they choose for us to do so, well before the situation is an emergency.
  2. Bond is able to detect the risk/anomaly in this situation, via technology.
  3. It is unlikely that the member would have managed to call 911 as she noticed that she is experiencing an epileptic seizure.
  4. Bond uniquely and successfully address this typical Too Early Until it is Suddenly Too late to Dial 911 situation
  5. Bond is known by the 911 dispatch and is able to activate and orchestrate them effectively.
  6. Preventative Personal Security offers unique safety/security value where a panic button or simply dialing 911 would not have been timely activated by the member.
  7. All of this value is offered without any violation of the members privacy.
