It’s been a busy couple of weeks. Last month was our biggest month in online sales to date, and our Earth Day Sale moved a LOT of bread through the production line!
But, aside from the ever-increasing hubbub at the production facility… we’ve had some irons in the fire that are just coming out in the shape we had hoped.
First, we have been having some really fruitful conversations with our buyers at Whole Foods Market. After running our first (and, to date, only) temporary-price-reduction promo at WFM and seeing a sustained lift of over 30%, the WFM team was impressed! They loved seeing “the organic adoption of the brand” and have been excited to see what else we are coming out with.
One idea that they’re EXTRA excited about (and so are we) is our cracker innovation. The WFM cracker buyer has tried a few iterations of the cracker, and now that we’ve got the base recipe dialed… she just wants to know the timeline for when we can start making them! SCORE!
We also struck a deal with the Whole Foods Warrants program. According to long-time industry players, this deal is only offered to 15-20 brands per year (out of the THOUSANDS that Whole Foods works with). They only pick the brands that they really love and really think are moving in the direction their consumers want to go. And I’m willing to bet that they’re right about PACHA! Over the next five years, Whole Foods will be incentivized by our Warrants deal to help us sell more product. That means better placement, more SKUs on the shelf, and more $$ flowing back to PACHA to help us grow. SCORE x@2!!!
And one last thing in the Whole Foods world: we JUST heard back that the Whole Foods Loan program will approve our application to fund a re-vamp of our packaging line. This new line will cut out half of our packaging labor costs (and free up the team to work on cracker innovation? 😛) It will also go hand-in-hand with a full re-brand of our packaging and a change in our loaf size that will make our slices larger and more sandwich-like. This is something our consumers continue to ask for – and that we’re FINALLY at the scale to deliver without crazy custom pan costs!
AND AS IF THAT'S NOT ENOUGH?!
We also just received word that New Seasons - a high volume natural independent store in the Pacific Northwest - will bring on all four PACHA SKUs some time this summer. This is an AMAZING account for our product and we're all very confident that velocities will be strong. The other amazing thing about this account is that it unlocks the final UNFI warehouse so that we can now sell into any independent grocer in the country that orders from UNFI. (aka, most of them.)
And our Sales Lead Mateo is hot on the trail for those new accounts. They're rolling in every day!
If ever there were a time to bet on PACHA, now’s the time. We’ve got sooo much going for us and are poised for another year of growth!
