Announcing New Portfolio Tracking Features and Tax Center!

Published on Apr 4

One of the big advantages of building the industry’s most robust datasets is the ability to quickly build valuable investor and founder tools on top of that powerful dataset.

Today, we’re proudly announcing two new features available to all KingsCrowd users, Free or Paid, in their portfolio. These new features are:

  1. The ability to add custom, off-platform investments (e.g. Reg D, other alt investments)
  2. Your portfolio “Tax Center” - to help investors review and organize their portfolio exits and failures over time

Adding Custom, Off-platform Investments

Do you invest in Reg D raises on platforms like AngelList? Or perhaps you have some private, off-platform deals you have invested in? Or maybe you want to track some of your other alternative investments like real estate, NFTs, or assets that KingsCrowd doesn’t yet track?

You can now add any custom investment. Simply follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to your portfolio page
  2. Click “Add investment”
  3. Type in the custom investment name
  4. Click to create a new, custom investment
  5. Add it to your portfolio!

Portfolio Tax Center (Beta)

As many startup investors will share, one of the largest challenges of building a diversified startup portfolio is keeping track of your investments. While startups are eager to share news of success, early-stage companies often silently close and try to downplay failures. We’ve seen numerous investments that never announced they were shutting down, but have found out months (or years) later when we see that the Founder/CEO is now working at a new company.

We want to help.

That’s why we’ve launched the Beta version of “Tax Center” - a dashboard that will summarize all your portfolio’s potential exits and failures in one place, comparing with the KingsCrowd database of company exits and failures. This helps investors to review their portfolio’s progress over time.

Please review all disclaimers before using the tax center.

Why are these new portfolio features important?

We’ve been listening to customer feedback from our user base. Two major pain points for investors are:

  1. Investors want a streamlined way to track all their alt investments in one feature-rich, consolidated location (outside of spreadsheets)
  2. Once an investor builds a portfolio of diverse investments, tracking them and getting updates starts to become very time consuming and difficult

We’re adding huge value to our users with these new releases. And we’re just getting started with what we have planned in the coming weeks and months.

For the KingsCrowd business, these features do more than simply increase our top-of-funnel and engagement. They also encourage users to enter more of their investment details into their portfolio, which ultimately enriches KingsCrowd’s dataset and widens our moat versus the competition.

Stay tuned as we’ve got a number of other valuable product releases planned for the coming weeks.

All of this is enabled because of the investors like you who believe in our mission of empowering investors in the online alt investing markets.

Onward!
