Heroes!!

12 days until we launch our book! (Heart just skipped a beat!😳!!)

Today I’d like to give you another quick update on how the launch is going. 

I’ll also share a video I got yesterday from the Heroic Blackstone Publishing HQ—this one features the Areté WORKBOOK we’ll be giving to everyone who joins us in Austin for our launch event next weekend as we teach them how to run their own 3-hour workshop!

And…

I’m going to make (yet another!) request for your help!!!

First the update…

As I mentioned in a recent email to our Heroic investors (and Michael briefly mentioned in our weekly), we’ve currently sold 15,000+ copies of the book. 

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS ALREADY PRE-ORDERED A COPY OR 10 OR 100++!!!

Those pre-order sales would have put us in the top 5 on the New York Times bestseller list over the last several weeks and as high as #2.

We continue to target 20,000+ for week 1 and would LOVE your help!! If you’ve been waiting to buy a book (or 10!), now’s a great time. 😂

As always: You can get the book on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and/or your local independent book stores. And you can now get it at Target and Walmart too!

And, let us know when you have (by clicking here!) so we can IMMEDIATELY send you an advance reader copy of the ebook (if you buy one copy) and audiobook (if you buy three or more) and an autographed copy + a ton of stuff in our VIP Box (if you buy 10 or more)…

Fun fact: We’ll be featured in Hudson’s (the airport bookstore!) AND in FedEx stores at launch. 

I have to say the whole FedEx thing is pretty cool for me as I’ve always looked at their small, eclectic group of titles and thought, “That would be awesome to have my book there one day.”

Got misty typing that. Mostly because I appreciate our team at Heroic Blackstone for making THAT deal happen. Great work, guys!! 🙌

Now…

Our book is launching at a bit of an awkward time relative to the Goodreads Choice Award nominations. 

The list of nonfiction nominees will be announced very soon. 

And, given the way their awards work, this is the ONLY year we can get nominated. 

Had we launched six months ago, I think we’d have at least 50,000+ people who were reading/have already read or added Areté to their Want to Read list. 

Right now we have 10,000. 

We want to see how Heroically fast we can get to 20,000 to give ourselves the BEST POSSIBLE shot at getting nominated as it remains a long shot. 

To get there, we’re going to open up our “add Areté to your Want to Read list on Goodreads, and get a free Heroic annual membership” campaign!!

I actually recorded a little video for the team at Goodreads in which I thanked them for creating one of the most powerful social platforms in the world that I’ve personally used since the year it was created (around the time I connected with Otis Chandler, their Founder and former CEO forever ago). 

I told them how much I appreciate their hard work and how much it would mean to us to be nominated for their award. 

Then I got emotional when I told them WHY it would mean so much to be nominated for a Goodreads Choice Award.

I get emotional (and literally almost stopped recording to collect myself) at 2:44 when I said that I thought being nominated for this award would be CATALYTIC for not just our book but for our HEROIC MOVEMENT. 

I can feel the power of this moment. 

I’ve never been more fiercely committed to helping create a world in which 51% of humanity is flourishing by the year 2051 than I am RIGHT NOW. 

I believe this is a special moment for our movement and I intend to do everything I can to follow Theodore Roosevelt’s wisdom from Doris Kearns Goodwin’s brilliant book Leadership in Turbulent Times where she tells us that Roosevelt told us that great leaders seize opportunities that are presented to them.
