SUMMARY: Businesswoman Jessica Contreras seeks to create an area in Tucson, Arizona where all deliveries will be made by electric vehicles or bikes.

“I’m not going to approach you with the sustainability conversation -- but what I am going to do, is do my part -- because it just makes sense. When it comes to the environment, you have to start somewhere, no matter what industry you are in, even if that means initiating carbon-free deliveries from your doorstep. We started by offsetting 200,000 lbs. of carbon emissions, making us one of the area’s first carbon-negative alcohol distributors. Now we are seeking to assist those in our community by inviting them to join us in creating a carbon-free delivery zone in Tucson, Arizona," says Ms. Contreras, CEO of Fuego Fino.

WHAT IS ECOSOLX ?

The name mimics its meaning: “Eco” is the English reference to environmentally-friendly operations, and the Spanish word “sol” (“sun” in English) references the company’s ambitions to power its operations using the sun. “X” refers to creating an area where carbon is “X-ed” out of emissions.

This project was launched when Fuego Fino purchased a property between highway I-10 and one of the area's most visited outdoor attractions: The Loop — a 131-mile bike pathway frequented by thousands of cyclists each week. The parcel sits on .44 acres of raw land, is located within four miles of the University of Arizona campus, and is designated as a Qualified Opportunity Zone (QOZ) as well as a New Market Tax Credit region. Fuego Fino structured this transaction so that the property is held within a single-asset Limited Liability Company, ECOSOLX LLC, in an effort to maximize positioning and protection for its investors.

WHAT WILL BE BUILT AT ECOSOLX?

Fuego Fino plans to build a storage facility that maximizes efficiency by constructing upwards rather than across a large swath of land. It also plans to take advantage of the site's solar rating of 92 by installing a system of panels and batteries so that the building can eventually unplug from the electric grid and operate under its own resources for a period of time.

The secondary goal is to operate a recharging station for electric delivery vehicles, which Jessica Contreras, CEO, hopes will become the backbone of a carbon-free delivery zone in Tucson, Arizona.
