How are you holding up, Detroit Lions fan? We’ve seen every reaction from complete apathy to “fire everyone”, from pundits, Same Ole’ Lions fans, and the media. So, with all of the whirlwind of reactions, what are the major storylines leading into the second preseason game versus the Houston Texans, August Seventeenth, at NRG Stadium?

The Lions had their behinds handed to them in just about every way by the New England Patriots. In particular, the offensive line was abused to the tune of nine sacks while failing to open up any significant holes in the running game, albeit with many regulars out. That was last week and in football, we have to have short memories especially if something bad happened.

There weren’t a ton of positives when there’s a lopsided score like that but we liked rookie runner, Ty Johnson. He made his NFL debut and had a couple of big plays in limited work if we had to find a silver (and Honolulu Blue) lining. Other players held their own but overall it was a sloppy game with second, third, and sometimes fourth-string guys in.

Injury bugs

The main thing Detroit Lions fans and coaches wanted to see was for the team to stay healthy. Unfortunately, receiver Jermaine Kearse broke his leg, and both quarterback Tom Savage and offensive tackle Tyrell Crosby ended up in concussion protocol. There is a laundry list of other guys who are questionable for the Week One game versus the Arizona Cardinals, too.
