p.m. ET.Michigan State is no stranger to tournament success. The Spartans have reached the Final Four seven times under Tom Izzo, and this Cassius Winston-led team has the capability to win a national championship. LSU, meanwhile, advanced on Tremont Waters' near-buzzer-beater against Maryland in the second round. The Tigers to this point have well handled the turmoil of coach Will Wade's indefinite suspension.

The madness is coming to Washington, D.C. this weekend with two big-time games Friday night at Capital One Arena. First up is No. 2 seed Michigan State vs. No. 3 seed LSU, followed by No. 1 seed Duke vs. No. 4 seed Virginia Tech.

After an almost-close call against No. 15 seed Bradley in the first round, Michigan State bounced back and wrecked Big Ten foe No. 10 seed Minnesota, knocking the Golden Gophers out of the 2019 NCAA tournament with a 20-point victory. The Spartans marched back to the Sweet 16 for the first time since the 2014-15 season, which was also the last time they made the Final Four.

LSU also topped a Big Ten team on its way to the Sweet 16. The Tigers survived a nail-biter against No. 6 seed Maryland on Saturday, sneaking away with a 69-67 win over the Terps. They also took out No. 14 seed Yale in the first round with a five-point win.
