The Great Loop 2020: The Voyage of a Lifetime

The Great Loop 2020 is a show that embodies a dream held by a great many people worldwide: to live aboard a sailboat. For all too many they lack the experience as well as the finances to obtain such a lifestyle.

The concept of this show was originally to train one couple in sailing and maritime science, give them a sailboat to use, and ask them to sail around the 6000 plus mile long voyage that is the Great Loop of the US. Ultimately however this project has gotten much greater attention if we select five teams, and place them on five boats. These teams will be selected based on their appeal to viewers in a three month long online contest that is currently running. The winners are to be announced at the Annapolis Boat Show on Oct 12, 2019.

To start this adventure, the five teams of novice sailors will train together in the art of marine science and sailing and begin their search for vessels all while we begin filming. Sail training at will take place at a facility in Florida and the teams will complete course work in Marine Sciences at our facilities in Eastern Carolina.

Upon receipt of sponsorship, the vessels will be purchased and the five teams will begin their efforts to set sail by purchasing, rehabbing and launching the vessels. The students will then set sail around the Great Loop, all the while campaigning their vessel and creating videos to promote their adventure to an audience who through social media, Patreon and YouTube will follow them.

The crews will fund their voyage though their viewers support of their team of choice by contributing patronage and supplies as deemed necessary by the team and communicated through social media. The team who after a season garners the most patronage and logs the most sea miles wins a cash prize and stardom as The First Great Looper, but it is our hope that all teams will sail on with established YouTube followers and Patrons to sail anywhere they wish in the world and continue to live the Mobile Lifestyle.

We aim to raise $250,000 to start this project to purchase vessels. We are in the process of filming a pilot for this series and expect to have the first episode ready for viewing by Thanksgiving 2019.
