Our Founder

I started Teneral Cellars so there would be a wine brand that represents the majority of the wine industry's customers - women. I was tired of seeing the industry use women as tokens and wanted to build a beautifully diverse women-owned and run company that uses wine as a conduit for change. Change the wine industry, change the world.

Pitch

 Teneral Cellars was started to harness the power of business for good and to use wine as a conduit for change so the industry reflects its largest customer...women! 

The wine industry is steeped in tradition and dominated by men.  There are only 10% female winemakers and 0.1% black winemakers, men and women.  Female sommeliers make 70 cents on the dollar to their male counterparts.  There are very few women in leadership positions and even fewer women of color, yet almost 70% of all wine is purchased by women and the industry doesn't reflect its largest customer...women.

Women make up 51% of the population and control 85% of consumer spending.  Major companies like Target, Walmart, Disney, MGM, and Caesar's have all made significant pubic statements regarding representation through their supplier diversity programs.  Teneral Cellars is positioned to fill the need of both consumers and large wholesalers.

If not now, then when?  If not us, then who?   The time is now to disrupt the wine industry. Democratizing the flow of capital, influence and impact is why we have chosen to use WeFunder, and reflect the mission and values of Teneral Cellars. We want to build a community so that the collective can create the transformation to a more diverse and equitable future for all women.

Doing well by doing good is a core value and 72% of consumers want brands to reflect their values.   We donated over $51,000 in 2021 to great organizations empowering women and fighting for gender and racial justice.

Teneral Cellars reached $1.179m in our first full year of operations in 2021.   Only 2% of women-owned businesses break the million dollar mark.  We are only getting started.

Exits in the wine industry average 15 to 19x EBIDTA.

Raise $1m to grow to $20 million.  Use of funds from this crowd funding will be used to:  1.) Build wine inventory for wholesale, 2:) Hire key sales and marketing staff, and 3.) Working capital to scale Teneral Cellars.
