Our Team

Our CEO has been restoring and refurbishing classic American cars and motorcycles for over 30 years. The Company owns the largest collection of classic Indian motorcycles in the U.S.

The Steel Buffalo story

Our founder, Ben Maccabee, has a passion for classic American motorcycles and autos.  Today, Steel Buffalo Motors has the largest collection of classic Indian Motorcycles in the U.S. SBM recently opened its showcase store in Los Angeles, where it also maintains a thriving customization and repair shop. But the real excitement is in its new line of customized motorized bicycles. Introduced in 2020, over 100 units have already been sold solely by word of mouth.

30 Years Restoring Classic Cars and Motorcycles

After serving in the Israeli Defense Force and obtaining his degree in automotive engineering, Ben emigrated to the U.S. where he established a reputation for exquisite restorations of classic cars and motorcycles.  By 2019, his revenues exceeded $500,000/year.

The Largest Collection of Classic Indian Motorcycles

With over 30 beautifully restored Indian motorcycles, Steel Buffalo Motors believes it has the largest collection of these classic American bikes in the U.S.   These motorcycles sell for $20,000 to $35,000 and more. With its new store and customization and repair shop in Los Angeles, SBM plans to expand its sales, repair and restoration business significantly.

Custom Motorized Bikes: Explosive Growth in 2020

In early 2020, Steel Buffalo Motors began marketing a line of motorized bicycles having the classic American motorcycle look and feel.  The current line is a gas-powered 80 cc motorized bike with a four-stroke engine that is available in a variety of distinctive designs, all with the classic SBM look. These bikes do not require a driver's license and achieve over 100 MPG, making them perfect for local city transportation. Within the next six months SBM plans to introduce a line of hybrid gas-electric bikes, to be followed by an all-electric version in 2021.

Sales have been very strong, with over 100 units sold to date despite virtually no advertising or marketing. Prices start at $2,300 for a base model, and range up to $6,000 for a limited edition design.  A custom design service is also available to customers who want a one-of-a-kind machine. SMB sees this product line as driving a significant portion of its future revenue growth.

The Future: a Complete Branding Play

In 2020, Ben and his partners formed Steel Buffalo Motors to expand the business into the following product lines:

    • Classic American motorcycles: sales, repairs, parts and concourse-level restorations. Plans are to add additional brands such as Triumph and Harley Davidson.
    • High end motorized bikes, which are anticipated to be a major driver of revenue growth.  In addition to the current gas-powered line, a hybrid line is in development and expected to be launched in 2020, followed by an all-electric line in 2021.
    • SBM branded clothing and motorcycle accessories.

SBM plans to use the majority of the proceeds of its equity crowdfunding raise to purchase additional parts and inventory, to hire additional employees and for advertising and marketing.
