Music Nation Database

Napster was a peer-to-peer file sharing application launched on June 1, 1999 and changed the music industry, 23 years later we are still working to rebuild

Record labels are not only investors, they are tastemakers. The standards set by record labels can be soul crushing for artists, some were filtered out because they couldn't take the pressure. The barrier to entry is wide open today, but most agree the quality of music is not as good as it used to be.

We have some issues!

Consumers are driving the demand for certain artist through Tik Tok and streaming platforms like Spotify, some with little knowledge of music and burn out quickly. Artist also have a responsibility to set standards for the quality of music produced, but lack the tools and connections to make it happen.

Whats the solution?

Music Nation is a database of music similar to IMDb, and networking site for artist and music professionals similar to IMDbPro for Movie industry professionals. (or a little like LinkedIn for the music industry)

What does it do?

The three main features of Music nation are the Database ~ a place to get information about music, live shows, news and most importantly it creates FanFirst, personalized experiences. This would prevent problems like the Ticketmaster vs. Taylor Swift dilemma. Connect & Create ~ a gig board with the opportunity to connect with other industry professionals, and Booking Live Events ~ Venues can sign up and book independent artist for live shows.

Are people still interested in music?

Interest in music continues to grow. Streaming has proven to be the go to source for music, but leaves the consumer without the information they would get on albums or CDs. Over half of the country attended live shows in 2018, did they get information on the artist? Music Nation will connect artist with their fans.

Nearly half of the households in the country have two or more musicians. Connecting artist with artist to song write, to play in the studio, for one time gig or create a new band. It will also connect artist with Teachers, Promoters, Managers, Producers, Engineers, Attorneys, Marketing, Radio Promotions etc.

How big is this opportunity?

The Future of work ~ Gen Z will make up 27% of the workforce in 2025. They value a work life balance, and their work will be freelance, contract, temporary, and gig work. Music Nation will give them the tools to build a team around their music projects and a culture for their fan base.

Who are the competitors?

Competitors in the music space do only a small portion of what Music Nation does, and most are still trying to sell music. Vamper connects musicians, Bands in Town list live shows and reverb nation sells music from independent artist.
