Our Team

LAMIK Beauty is clean makeup for all

LAMIK Beauty was born from my frustration at the cosmetics counter: foundations that were too light or too orange, setting powder that made me look “casket-fresh” i.e. ashy and gray, or eyeshadows with barely enough pigment to show up on my deep complexion. Then, my mom was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. She loved makeup, and we quickly learned not only did most makeup formulas not work on us, they were also toxic. In fact, 75% of beauty products marketed to Black women are toxic.

Beauty companies not only didn’t care if their products worked for me, they didn’t care if they were poisoning me either. Let that sink in.

I knew I deserved better. I knew my community deserved better. Every woman who looks like me, and even those who don’t, deserve better.

Today, LAMIK Beauty is a clean beauty brand breaking barriers and changing the face of clean beauty.

We make our products in Houston, TX.

Founder, Kim Roxie, in the lab creating new cosmetics.

When launching LAMIK direct to consumer, we went to the women who have been overlooked by the beauty industry and raised $50,000 in just 30 days on iFundWomen, a rewards based crowdfunding platform. With those funds we built our website, got product-market fit, hired a lean team, and launched our iconic Revelation Brow Duo, which was just nominated for the best brow product by HSN.

Since our initial launch, we are now carried on HSN, Ulta.com, and JCPenney.com, along with independent retailers from coast to coast.

We’ve done all of this with ZERO dollars in venture capital. Our growth has come purely from the support of our community.

Our Community:

WE ARE trailblazers in the clean beauty movement. Together, we are redefining beauty standards and demanding the best for ourselves and our sisters.

WE ARE a diverse, empowered, and passionate group of women who refuse to settle for less in the world of beauty.

WE ARE women of all shades who have experienced the frustration of being overlooked by mainstream beauty brands.

WE ARE united by our unwavering commitment to clean, safe, and effective beauty products that celebrate and enhance our natural beauty, rather than compromise it. This commitment is our promise to you, ensuring that you can always trust the products you use.

WE ARE not just customers; we are a tribe that uplifts and supports each other, bound by a common goal of changing the face of beauty. Our journey from feeling marginalized to creating a space where every woman, regardless of her complexion, can find products that work for her, is what makes us strong. Together, we are a force to be reckoned with.

WE ARE - LAMIK Beauty, a community that values transparency, inclusivity, and authenticity.

If you ask our customers, we’re the best kept secret in beauty. Our customer return rate is 40% - much higher than the industry average of 17% - which means our community believes in our products.

We are the first clean prestige makeup brand funded solely by our community. From our initial launch crowdfunding campaign with iFundWomen, to winning a national pitch competition and being voted onto Ulta.com, our community shows up and fuels us.

Why a crowdfunding round?

At LAMIK Beauty, we're doing this equity crowdfunding raise because we believe in breaking barriers and creating opportunities.

Black women receive less than 1% of venture capital, but our potential and impact are far greater.

We want our highly-educated and passionate customers—the very ones who are helping us build this brand—to have the opportunity to own a piece of it.

People may wonder, “Why did you turn down a deal on Entrepreneur’s Elevator Pitch series?” The answer is: we’re looking for people who truly see the vision to support our growth.

We know our value. Even the founder of Netflix saw our value. This is an amazing opportunity to partner with us to bring even more benefits to our loyal community.

Retailers and consumers want the missing piece: inclusive brands that work well for more people. LAMIK Beauty is that missing piece.

We’re a Black-owned brand, but our products are not just for Black women. Our nationwide distribution is a testament to LAMIK Beauty’s impact on everyone.

In fact, that loyalty runs so deep that our customers led the way to create our 1,000+ member Facebook community group.

Without any PR, we’ve been mentioned in dream publications like Essence, Cosmopolitan, Allure, and Ebony Magazine even gave our Brow Gel a Best in Beauty Award.

What will we do once funded?

You may wonder if we’ve had such accelerated growth without investments, what will we do with the money we raise. The answer: funding will throw fuel on the fire we’ve already built!

We’ll use the funding in three key ways to: increase our inventory and product assortment, amp up our inclusive marketing to reach even more customers who deserve clean beauty, and increase our retail distribution to make access to our products more convenient to our growing community.

Why fund a Black-woman owned beauty brand?

There is a $2.6 BILLION opportunity (yes, billion with a ‘b’) for economic growth when we address racial inequity in the beauty industry, according to a study from McKinsey’s Institute for Black Economic Mobility.

We are excited for you to join us in this movement to make clean beauty accessible to all.
