Our Team

Kabila empowers millions of overlooked founders around the world by connecting them to capital and each other with our investment fund, co-founder matching app, and community

In addition to our Wefunder, we are separately raising a $5 million fund to invest in the founders in our ecosystem 👇🏾

100% of Kabila, Inc.'s share of the fund will be for the benefit of Kabila Inc. and its investors.

See what the founders in our ecosystem say about Kabila...

Our founder origin story

In 2013, Kabila's CEO, James Oliver, Jr., cleaned out his savings to build a website for his first startup, which required complicated code and James couldn't code.

Who does that? 😳

James was lucky enough to get into gener8tor's winter accelerator class in Madison, WI, but he desperately needed a co-founder who could code.

Not being able to quickly find a technical co-founder negatively affected the startup's ability to raise capital and execute.

James is also a Black founder and knows first-hand the challenges of being overlooked and underestimated in tech startup ecosystems.

Caleb Martinez, Kabila's CTO, has been obsessed with building community since he was in college at GA Tech, where he built an app to bring students together for the greater good. So when the two met, and James shared his vision for connecting co-founders to capital and each other, with a focus on inclusion, it was a match made in heaven!

Finding a co-founder is hard, but worth it!

80% of startups that reached a $1B valuation 🦄 had more than one co-founder (Source: Ali Tamaseb).

But, while Kabila was at Techstars, we talked with hundreds of startup founders and 70% of the founders who were looking for a co-founder couldn't find one.

Startup founding teams with inclusion perform better

This is why Kabila focuses on eliminating unconscious bias with our co-founder matching app and only connects founders based on the things that matter, like vision and values alignment.

Even though, according to Backstage Capital, women, Black, LGBTQ+, and Latinx founders combined receive less than 10% of venture capital, we believe that diverse co-founder teams will have a capital raising superpower in the future. And when this happens, Kabila will be at the epicenter of the most badass co-founder teams in the world.

In our vibrant 400 member community, we help founders have better outcomes by connecting them to capital, each other, & the resources they need to thrive

Through key partnerships, we provide mental health therapy and free business legal services for the founders in our online community.

🔥 We also connect founders to the most important people and investors in the startup ecosystem 👇🏾

Here's a workshop we did with Techstars co-founder, David Cohen, to help overlooked founders understand how to overcome investor objections and raise capital:

There are millions of founders around the world looking for a co-founder

According to CB Insights, there are 1.35 million tech startups created annually, over the past five years, that means there are 13.5 million technical and non-technical startup founders who might be looking for a co-founder, since founders are constantly launching new ventures.

How we make money

According to the Washington Post...

The rise in entrepreneurship bodes well for Kabila as founders will increasingly be looking for a co-founder.
