Our Founder

Creating a professional experience for the amateur scene 👾

Great Lakes Gaming is creating a professional experience for the amateur scene. Ready for your #LittleBitOfGlory?🏆

Founded in 2020 by RIT student at the time, Ben Garvey, GLG saw a need for a dedicated high-end gaming facilities & professionally organized video gaming events and broadcasts.

The esports & organized video gaming industry is still the wild west, despite it's massive billion dollar industry growth over the past several years. This creates an exciting area to build a brand that a growing community can trust and rely on consistent professionally organized events.

Current broadcasting technology in the traditional sports industry requires massive investments in large, clumsy, and expensive production suites. Just look at the NFL room pictured above. It's DISGUSTING!🤮

The technology is complicated and inaccessible for the large emerging market of esports broadcasting talent. At GLG we are using game design technology developed by Rochester Institute of Technology students and graduates.

The Great Lakes region has a massive undeserved market for in person gaming facilities. Often underdeveloped and not capable of delivering the top tier experience video gamers need to compete and win their competitions, gaming facilities today lack the infrastructure needed.

It should come as no surprise that high-end gaming equipment requires a massive personal investment, to build just a gaming PC you're looking at $2,000+ and that doesn't even include peripherals or the video games themselves!

What is our tech and why is it better?

Using game design technology and techniques we're able to match and exceed the quality of traditional productions and do so, in an incredibly efficient manner.

This software is so efficient it can run on a toaster!🍞

Our packages are also less than 1 GB in file size and can still deliver 4K quality graphics, real-time renderings & an insane animations.

One of the benefits of our software is the ability to be game agnostic. We can build this tool to be used for any video game (Valorant, Call of Duty, Overwatch, Etc.) Not only that, but our overlay management system can be used for none-gaming events too! Watch out NFL, we're coming for you.

There's no point in operating events & live-streams if there's no community willing to participate. After almost 3 years of events & live-streams we've built a loyal community numbering in the 10s of thousands; both at our gaming facility and online offerings.

Our dedicated community is a prime demographic for advertisers and sponsors. With our largest demographic being young professionals.

If asked to picture a "typical gaming cafe," what do you envision? 🤔Is it dark, clustered😬, and smells like no one has mopped in the last two months?🤢

Before our gaming lounge launched we operated our live-streams from dorms, apartments and living rooms. Not the most ideal setting when running top tier events on home internet.

With the launch of our gaming lounge, we have built a dedicated production room with high-end PCs and the best internet connection thanks to Greenlight Networks.

GLG understands the necessity to be flexible with the gaming lounge. Not everyday is ideal for video game related events. Just like any Country Club, we designed a space for more than just sporting events. Are you looking to host a networking event, a classy dinner, or even an inauguration for a local government position? We can make your event one for the history books!

Our lounge on the 22nd floor overlooking Rochester, NY serves as the latest hot spot for your premiere event in the clouds, literally. ⛅

In our brief history we've already worked with international and local brands that trust our professional ability to deliver a well organized and memorable experiences.

We've worked with brands like MSI & HyperX, two leading video game hardware companies, institutions such as RIT, and traditional sports brands like Flower City Union and Oncore Golf!

We opened of our first lounge in June, 2022 located on the 22nd floor of Innovation Square. Since the opening, we scaled our esports event operations resulting in a 3.7x increase in revenue. 📈📈📈

We're looking to do the same in 2023, which will be a turning point for profitability and sustainability.

The video gaming and esports industries are massive and growing every year. At GLG we're targeting the specific demographic of dedicated video gamers. Customers who chose video games to be their life-style.

These customers are willing to spend not just more money, but time. Time to be a part of the community we've built and be a great source for user generated content and involvement.

😎Ben Garvey, CEO & Founder

Started Great Lakes Gaming after seeing a need for dedicated gaming facilities when managing the RIT Esports Call of Duty team. After several in-person competitions that lacked the resources for a successful event & dozens of competitors in North America starting to realize the same, Ben knew this was the next big business in competitive gaming.

Justin Armstrong, Lead Production Developer

An RIT Alumni of the School of Game Design & Development, Justin brings the knowledge and experience to design game breaking techniques to the broadcasting software GLG uses on a daily basis.

Advisory Board

Our Advisory board consists of leaders with a a wealth of knowdledge and experience in the startup world.

In a 10 week period for several sponsors we delivered some incredible results.

🏆Our own records beaten with player turnout of nearly 5,000 players and hundreds of teams. Check out our main tournament page on Community Gaming!

📺A growth in viewership and viewer engagement on our Twitch.

🐤Nearly a quarter million in Twitter impressions. In the last quarter of 2022 we're expecting to exceed 1 Million impressions as well!

📱An addition of Tik Tok video promotions garnered over 1 Million views. The best performing videos resulted in two of our largest event turns outs seen above on June 25th & August 17th.

When We Raise

💸Working off our success of our sales growth in the last several months we are looking to expand our team.

📈If we exceed our raise we aim to open a second location in Cleveland, Ohio. A growing market just like Rochester, but with Cleveland being a large sports city, it is the ideal location for our next expansion.

🚀Shooting for the moon and raising over $1,000,000 we'd look to open in larger cities like Chicago & Buffalo.
