Ocean science, exploration, and technology all depend on getting people and equipment safely to sea.

Yet access to capable, professionally operated research vessels remains a significant constraint.

That's the opportunity GMSO was created to address.

We’re building crucial infrastructure for ocean access by bringing together mission-ready vessels, experienced maritime operations, and the people and systems needed to support work at sea.

Our approach is practical: match the right vessel to the right mission, operate efficiently, and build capacity where it's needed. This allows GMSO to support work across science, exploration, technology testing, monitoring, and other maritime operations.

We're already putting the model to work.

GMSO has acquired and activated R/V Cosmo as our first vessel, expanded our reach through vessel and operational partnerships, supported offshore scientific operations and deep-ocean technology testing, and completed our first government, commercial, and nonprofit contracts.

To date, GMSO has generated $207,000 in revenue across three contracts, with $500,000 in capital invested.

And we're continuing to build by adding vessel capacity, expanding partnerships and regional reach, advancing next-generation ocean mapping capability, and increasing missions with new contracts.
