You and your kids are about to enter a whole new world of creativity, peace of mind, and of course, building!
You already know how frustrating it is to be on an endless search for that one Lego piece that seems to be hiding in a big pile. You also know how much money you've invested in your Lego sets, and maybe you'd like to see what else you or your kids could build with that collection.
Birdi is a new app that's designed for Lego creators to help you spend more time building, stop the endless searching, and get more out of the Legos you've already purchased.
The life of a Lego set is almost always the same:
Bottom line: Those expensive Lego sets—which demanded so much time and provided so much fun—are destined to break down and fade into the background. UNLESS... Birdi swoops in and helps you:
It's time-consuming and frustrating to search for pieces that you need once multiple sets are mixed together. This frustration often leads families to lose hundreds, or even thousands, of dollars donating boxes of mixed Lego pieces instead of sorting through everything to rebuild old sets. Birdi is a tool that will not only allow you to do that, but will also unlock new sets that you can build with your mixed Legos.
Birdi is a downloadable phone app that allows you to scan, search, and find Lego pieces that are mixed together in a pile or lost around the house.
Birdi's Scanner Mode uses your phone's camera to scan a pile of mixed Lego pieces to find the pieces you need. "Found" pieces are highlighted and enhanced, notifying you that possible matches have been detected.
Birdi's features will initially focus on the search function. You'll be able to start searching through a pile of Lego pieces based on three possible filters:
The app allows you to search for several pieces at once or a specific piece that has been eluding you—both functions are enabled within Birdi.
Birdi was born out of a daily frustration that every Lego enthusiast understands: the seemingly endless (and sometimes fruitless) search for important pieces. This need will be around as long as Legos are around.
Speaking of which, the Lego market is stronger than it's ever been. Revenue has been increasing steadily for Lego's business, even through the COVID lockdown, and is expected to continue to increase. This is primarily due to the ongoing effort on Lego's part of continually investing in licensing deals and other partnerships to keep Legos relevant and exciting for its customers.
Our Pricing Model
We aim to make Birdi available to everyone at a low monthly price of $4.99 per month. This is in addition to providing a free trial to new users in order to demonstrate the capabilities of the app. In addition, we'll offer "a-la-carte" scans at $1.99 each for those who wish to pay as they go.
Competitive Landscape
In addition to our market-friendly pricing model, our positioning will be superior to the current major competitor in the space, Brickit. Like Brickit, Birdi will be able to scan piles of mixed Legos, but unlike Brickit, Birdi will also be able to search for specific pieces with multiple search parameters, based on what the user is trying to achieve, such as finding a specific piece or filtering an entire set out of a pile of mixed pieces.
Success Factors
Based on our pricing model and competitive edge, we expect to achieve a high market penetration into the Lego ecosystem and achieve profitability with Birdi. We have partnered with the Project 10K incubator, which provides us access to resources beyond the reach of the average tech startup.
Meet Sebastian
Sebastian is an 11-year-old Kidpreneur who was accepted into the Project 10K incubator for his idea on Birdi. He's not only passionate about Legos, but he is also ready and excited to follow his parents in the entrepreneurial journey. With the full support, guidance, and mentorship of Project 10K, Sebastian and his team are bringing the Birdi app to life—and we want you to be part of that journey as well!
In addition to Sebastian's vision, Project 10K's leadership team will help build the business side of Birdi. This team is comprised of experts from the fields of development, project management, marketing, account management, and operations. We are excited to have them onboard!
In addition, these relationships open up doors that wouldn't otherwise be open to us (at least for a long time), including connections to the chairman of Lego itself, affiliates, and promotional opportunities.
Birdi is entering its first fundraising round on Wefunder, which means that you have the opportunity to invest in our success and ride the Birdi wave from the very start! With the resources we have at our disposal, Birdi will reach a high portion of the Lego customer market and start delivering unique value from the first moment the app is downloaded.
