Pitch

Welcome to Baking made easy! Our mantra is that BāKIT Box will be the go-to source for trendy, fun, and accessible baking projects.

It is no surprise that baking has had unprecedented growth over the last 2 years, with 1/3 of adults baking more frequently.

This growth is forecasted to continue through 2022 and beyond as baked goods become more and more synonymous with snacking and with baking being tied to emotional and mental wellbeing.

So what is BaKIT Box trying to solve for?

To start off, baking isn't easy! Looking up a recipe for something as simple as chocolate cupcakes can yield hundreds of results with different opinions on the right flour to cocoa powder to sugar ratios. This can be overwhelming and extremely time consuming.

Additionally, baking calls for many ingredients in small quantities, which is impossible to purchase at a retail store. You end up having to find storage for these items, only to throw them away a few months later. It is a huge waste of money and food.

We've created a product that makes baking easy and fun, and accessible to all skill levels, with the pre-measured ingredients included. We also include the perishable items such as butter and milk products. We offer our customers a changing selection of culturally diverse recipes to keep them inspired and eager to be a part of our community!

Our model is simple: customers can subscribe monthly or every other month, or order a la carte, we deliver 4-5 times per month directly to your door, and you get to bake a delicious recipes from scratch!

Our target market is based off actual customer data and customer discovery assessments. We are targeting two distinct groups of individuals as listed above.

Through initial customer research, we have found that our kits provide 3 things:

1. Convenience - Our recipes are vetted, tried and true. You receive all the ingredients pre-measured so you have a no mess, no waste way to bake at home!

2. A fun experience - Our boxes are fun for all ages and provides dedicated time with family and friends. It is the perfect activity for families with kids, date nights, or even corporate virtual events!

3. Education - Our boxes allow customers to learn more about baking including techniques, tips and tricks. We are also providing access to global cuisine and unique flavors and recipes.

The US baking industry as a whole represents a $40B industry, where $15B is made up of baking mixes and kits.

Within the subscription box category, food and meal kits rank the highest in average spend of about $74/month.

We have been in business for less than a year, we are actively capturing market share via our ecommerce website.

We also sell on external platforms such as Tock, Hereheremarket and Faire which continue to drive engagement back to our website.

In addition, corporate partners have proven to be a strong channel as well. We partnered with companies like Microsoft and McKinsey to provide BaKIT Boxes as an alternative to the traditional happy hour event or for client appreciation gifts.

We have had tremendous traction in 2021, and our focus for this year is to drive more business back to the website. We are capitalizing on a variety of channels to build our brand and story, and ultimately convert trial customers to subscribers.

We have a fantastic team in place to help us scale BaKIT Box over the next year including experience across finance, customer experience, third party logistics, recipe development and sales & distribution.

We have received press and recognition from a number of organizations and publications in Chicago, such as the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Inno, and we have won 3 major grants in 2021 through TechRise, Women's Net, and Project Entrepreneur.
