Zugzwang is a fantasy-noir feature film about a private detective who takes a case, hoping for redemption and revenge, but instead finds herself battling a seemingly bottomless world of corruption.

Zugzwang is a situation found in chess in which a player must move, though every move puts them at a disadvantage. Life is a lot like that right now. As more and more people grapple with the Zugzwang in their own lives, this story will inspire our audience to hope. Zugzwang is a swift-acting tonic to counteract the helplessness that so many are feeling in their own lives.

The rare film that is timely, beautifully shot and thrillingly told, Zugzwang is seeking 1.6 million USD for production plus 200K for marketing and distribution. Unlike traditional indie film financing that relies on a sale to recoup and earn, we are putting our film distribution experience to great use in raising enough to finance the film's production and distribution, creating a path straight to our audience which we've been building since day one.

We are able to achieve the highest level of storytelling with our experienced team of artists including Emmy-award-winning director Bridget Stokes, veteran producers Erin Owens and Lauri Levenfeld, Grammy-award-nominated composer Maejor, Artios award-winning casting director Erica A. Hart, award-winning cinematographer Kevin Atkinson, Emmy-nominated production designers Michele Yu and Cindy Chao, post-producer Kaitlyn Yang and Alpha Studios and editor Veronica Rutledge. Our lead is the glorious Christina Elmore who shines in Insecure, Twenties and The Girls on the Bus. Kathreen Khavari is attached for the role of Florence and we are continuing to build out the ensemble.

Zugzwang will build a story-world so rich and layered that audiences will want to engage long after the credits roll. We have thought about this world deeply, developing a series, a graphic novel and an annual event that will expand this original story from the screen into the farthest reaches of our imagination. Film Equity Waterfall Agreement: After expenses are paid, investors receive 60% of net profits until they receive 120% of their investment back, then they receive 50% of net profits.
