Hi everyone,
At EX Venture, we’re proud to back teams that don’t just build fast — they build smart.
One of our portfolio companies, Zero X, is doing just that.
While the headlines often focus on hardware, some of the most important innovation happens quietly — in labs, simulations, and detailed engineering sprints.
Here’s a look at what Zero X is working on right now:
⚙️ Simulating the Future of Clean Energy
Inside their Leipzig office, the Zero X team is focused on the simulation of flow and thermal characteristics for a cylindrical tar reformer — a crucial component in the purification of syngas produced through biomass gasification.
This work is a critical step toward:
âś… Cleaner syngas
âś… Lower emissions
✅ Higher compatibility with advanced energy systems — including fuel cells
By optimizing how gas flows and heats within the reformer, Zero X is reducing the impurities that have traditionally limited gasification technology — pushing its X-150 system closer to industrial readiness.
🔍 Why It Matters
Clean, purified syngas is essential for turning waste into truly low-emission, high-efficiency energy.
This kind of refinement enables:
• Lower maintenance and downtime
• Extended system lifespan
• Smooth integration with decentralized grids and hydrogen-ready infrastructure
It’s engineering that enables real-world deployment at scale.
🧠Engineering the Edge
These simulation efforts might not grab headlines, but they’re why Zero X is positioning itself as a next-generation solution in the global clean tech space.
They’re not just building machines.
They’re building systems that make waste a viable energy resource for the 21st century.
We’ll have more to share soon, including early deployment news and partnership updates. Thanks for being with us as we build the next generation of clean energy.
