Heroic Public Benefit Corporation

Our first CF2 investor and... Our strategy in one word!

Heroes!!

This is Brian with another quick note.

I’m thinking I’ll do a little series of emails with some behind-the-scenes goodness as we have fun with our second crowdfunding campaign (before we plan to officially re-launch our Heroic +1 series on October 1st!!).

In case you missed the memo…

We launched our second crowdfunding campaign on Wefunder. (Exciting!)

You can learn more here: https://wefunder.com/heroic

And… Join us for a Heroic Prospective Investor Zoom this Saturday at 11am CT if you’re feeling it! You can find the link to our Zoom call over here: https://wefunder.com/updates/157552

And, in case you were wondering, here’s what we looked like right before we launched. 😂

Today I want to tell you a little story about our very first investor in this (our second!) crowdfunding round and then tell you about the one word that sums up our entire strategy.

Quick context.

Every morning I share my Oura scores with two dear friends who happen to be big Heroic investors. They also happen to be former MLB players: Sean Casey and Brandon Guyer.

Sean was an All Star who Sports Illustrated called “the friendliest guy in baseball” while Brandon was nicknamed “La Piñata” by the World Series announcer one year because he got hit by so many pitches. (Hah!)

Here they are at our launch party rocking their Heroic t-shirts. (And here’s Sean on the MLB Network looking good!)

I’m a better human being because of those two guys and the fact that we connect every day to support one another in showing up as our best selves. Our daily “social” accountability/interaction makes me GIDDY about the Social side of our platform we’ll be launching. (More on that in another email.)

As you may have seen on our Wefunder page, we share a clip of Sean GOING OFF on his podcast about how Heroic has changed his life.

The guy on his show that day? He happened to be another Heroic Optimizer named Tim McMahon—talking about his new book called Push the Tarp. HE was our very first Heroic crowdfunding investor in this round. Thank you, Tim!! 🙏

Check out the clip of Sean and Tim here:

Now…

I met all THREE of those guys (Sean, Brandon and Tim) from another dear friend: Brian Cain.

Brian is one of the world’s best mental toughness coaches. To put it in perspective, he was George St-Pierre’s mental toughness coach. (For those who don’t know, GSP is one of the all-time great UFC fighters. Check out our Notes on his book The Way of the Fight.)

Brian coaches a TON of elite athletes and coaches. He also happens to be a long-time student of mine and he encourages all of his athletes and coaches to read PhilosophersNotes and he can’t wait to bring them into Heroic social when that’s ready.

All of which brings us one step closer to the one-word summation of my entire life philosophy and our entire business strategy.

Yesterday I reached out to Brian to thank him for connecting me with all the guys I mentioned above.

He replied with a text offering to connect me with yet another athlete you’d probably know to which I said, “Yes, please!” 😂

Then he said (edits for brevity and privacy): “Question, I work with [AN ELITE NCAA BASEBALL TEAM]. Coach and players use Optimize.  Would be your FIRST team to go Heroic Social.

If you are willing, [THE HEAD COACH] would like to have you address team on ‘In the thousand books I’ve read, here is what’s most vital to your pursuit of becoming your best self’ - Figured we could tie it into a Johnson Family trip to a [BIG SCHOOL] football game which is UNREAL energy and excitement.”

To which I replied:

And THAT tattoo (nice notes for my talk, eh?! 😂) is the one-word summation of everything we strive to do with Heroic. It’s what I’ll tell that baseball team about and what I’ve dedicated my life to embodying and encouraging you to embody.

For one simple reason… it’s how I think we can change the world, one person at a time, together, starting with you and me and us… TODAY!

Day 1. Let’s go.

B

P.S. Don’t know what ARETÉ is yet? I’ll tell you more tomorrow!!

P.P.S. For curious souls, here’s this morning’s Oura scores I shared with my besties…

As I told Sean and Brandon: “Worked late and right up to before bed—launched CF!!!—and went to bed ~an hour later than I had been over last few days. Always fascinating to see the little things move—in this case less deep sleep. Day 1. Only easy day was yesterday. Let’s go! ⚙️”

Note: I CANNOT WAIT (!) to share my Oura scores and a quick reflection on what’s working and what needs work every morning with YOU when we launch Heroic social!! 🙌

Here’s a sneak peek at what that will look like!

“I certified as a Coach in the second class and have been using what I learned since. I am a better wife, worker, friend and my reaction to life and the bumps it offers is a 180 from before. I believe in the example Brian and the other coaches bring to the table. This is {the} best program, bar none, for any goals you may have that you don't feel you are reaching. The sky is the limit with Heroic.” -  Sharon Sweeney Fee

“Got dragged into the [Heroic] Coach program by my sister. I was quite depressed at the time. I’ve always loved the idea of being the best version of myself, but have never been able to get all the moving parts working together. It’s really, really hard to figure that out. 3 weeks in and I’m loving the program. I now believe I have a plan. And I believe it will work. Long story short: I believe in the mission. I believe it works. I believe Heroic can help millions of people. And I want to put my money into something I wholeheartedly believe in. What could possibly be a better investment?" - Simon Ford
