Ever evolving, Launch quietly made history yesterday by minting the first live concert NFT in history. One music fan will get to own the one and only physical video file of the inaugural livestream concert with Ana Popovic and GRAMMY-winning guitarist Paul Nelson at The Music Room on Cape Cod, holding and preserving the historic night forever. Or, until they sell it.

Launch has embarked on the blockchain revolution with the auction of the first-ever concert available to purchase as an NFT, or Non-Fungible Token. The auction, hosted on OpenSea, allows the buyer to own the unaltered master file of the March 13, 2021 livestream performance, the first concert ever held at the brand new, state-of-the-art blues and rock venue, whose opening was delayed by over a year due to the pandemic. The winner of the auction will be immortalized on the blockchain, becoming the first person to own a concert NFT, marking a watershed moment for music history.

Perhaps the pandemic and society’s mass migration into the digital sphere has catalyzed this latest craze of NFTs - irreplaceable, blockchain-backed virtual items representing art, audio, and other forms of creative work, trading over the internet. This fledgling technology has the opportunity to transform music publishing, fund innovation, and protect intellectual property. Recent NFT auctions have included a burned Banksy artwork, a 3D depiction of Donald Trump’s corpse, and an animated Pop Tart cat. Highlighting our commitment to innovation, Launch sees an opportunity to turn every live concert into a unique visual live album with special fan perks.

Artists using Launch’s platform will have the opportunity to livestream their performances on the platform, host past content for on-demand viewing, and monetize concerts and music as NFTs.

Our commitment to supporting the live music and arts community is evident in not only our equitable business model but also our stance as the first music company in history to release a concert as an NFT.

NFT’s put the power back into the hands of creators, which stands in complete alignment with our vision for artist empowerment and live entertainment innovation. Now let’s launch boldly into the future, together.
