The 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs had a terrific opening night on Wednesday, April 10. Thursday’s slate of games could be even better. At 7:00 p.m. EST, the Boston Bruins will host the Toronto Maple Leafs at the TD Garden in Boston. This game can be viewed on NBCSN nationally in the United States. In Canada, you can turn to CBC, TVAS, and Sportsnet. Locally, it will be on NESN.

Much like last year, this should be a very close series. Boston beat Toronto in seven games last year, but the Leafs have John Tavares this time around. Last year, the Bruins were able to hone in on stopping Auston Matthews. This year, it will be far more difficult for them to do so.


Boston is led by their incredible first line trio of Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron, and David Pastrnak. Their second line is led by David Krejci, who quietly had one of the best seasons of his career.

Defensemen Zdeno Chara and Charlie McAvoy are the head honchos of their blueline. Tuukka Rask and Jaroslav Halak form a formidable goaltending tandem. They are coached by Bruce Cassidy, who has his team in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the third straight season.

On the visitor’s side of the ice, Toronto is coming in with a healthy lineup. They missed defensemen Travis Dermott and Jake Gardiner dearly. Goaltender Frederik Andersen hasn’t been very sharp lately, but it’s worth noting his postseason resume is an attractive one. Forwards Mitch Marner and Nazem Kadri figure to be important pieces as the Leafs try to get out of the first round for the first time in over a decade.
