Social media is the new front door for college recruitment. Enrollment is now won or lost on TikTok and Instagram.

Prospective students don’t want another polished admissions video. They want to see what campus actually feels like. They want to hear from real students to better understand the culture and character of their new potential home, where they will spend the next 4 years of their lives.

But most schools have a tiny social team. Often 1–3 people. They can’t cover every event. They can’t film every department. They can’t keep content fresh across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and paid ads.

At the same time, recruiting is getting more expensive. In one major benchmark report, the cost to recruit an undergrad rose nearly 32% for private four-year institutions (2022 vs 2020).

That’s the gap we’re closing.

TalkShop's flagship product, CampusCreator, is a marketplace + enterprise tool that helps colleges commission student-made short-form videos on demand—with clear pricing, fast turnaround, payouts handled for them, and full content rights.

We built the supply first. Now we’re scaling distribution.

The Problem

Colleges need more authentic content than ever.

Social is now a top research channel in the college search process, and students trust peer-driven content more than institutional messaging.

But the current ways colleges get content don’t scale:

  1. Small teams can’t cover the full campus experience.
  2. Interns turn over every semester and are highly limited.
  3. “Volunteer ambassadors” are unreliable.
  4. Agencies are expensive and slow.
  5. Content gets repetitive because everyone copies the same formats.

Result: schools spend more to recruit students, but their content doesn’t keep up with what students respond to.

Our solution: CampusCreator

CampusCreator is a content supply chain for higher ed.

Colleges use CampusCreator to:

  1. Post a video brief (or start from templates).
  2. Route it to vetted student creators on that campus (or similar campuses).
  3. Receive submissions within days.
  4. Approve, download, and publish.
  5. Build a content library they can reuse for paid ads, organic social, landing pages, and email.

Students use CampusCreator to:

  1. Pick gigs that match their schedule.
  2. Film short clips (15–60 seconds).
  3. Get paid per approved video.
  4. Build a portfolio that helps them grow their audience.

Why now

Three shifts are colliding:

  1. Social drives enrollment perception. Students actively use platforms like Instagram/TikTok/YouTube to evaluate schools.
  2. Recruiting costs are rising (up 32% since 2020). Schools need better ROI on every dollar.
  3. UGC outperforms brand content. UGC can materially improve click-through and conversion rates.

This is the moment for a purpose-built UGC platform for colleges.

Traction (what we’ve done so far)

  1. Built a network of 1,500+ student creators across 500+ schools (supply-first).
  2. Product is live with end-to-end workflow: briefs → submissions → approvals → payouts.
  3. 10 early pilot conversations sourced with colleges in our initial target segments (Tier 2/3 private first, then public).

Business model (simple and built for recurring spend)

We charge schools:

  1. A monthly platform subscription (access, workflow, storage, permissions, analytics)
  2. Credits that are exchanged for content

Why we win

CampusCreator is purpose-built for higher ed. Not ecom. Not generic influencer tools.

What’s different:

  1. Campus-verified creators (students at real schools)
  2. Fast turnaround for short-form content
  3. Clear licensing + content rights baked into the workflow
  4. Repeatable briefs that generate consistent output
  5. A growing network that gets stronger with every campus we add

Market

We’re starting with U.S. higher ed enrollment + communications teams, then expanding into adjacent buyers (graduate programs, online programs, continuing ed, and eventually employer brand teams targeting early talent).

The wedge is narrow and clear: short-form UGC for admissions + social teams.

The expansion is natural: more departments, more programs, more use cases, bigger budgets.

Go-to-market

We’re going campus-by-campus and region-by-region.

Our primary channels:

  1. Direct outbound to enrollment marketing leaders
  2. Pilot-to-contract conversion
  3. Partnerships with agencies that manage enrollment marketing for multiple schools
  4. Student creator referrals inside each campus (supply helps demand)

The playbook:

  1. Land 10–20 schools (tight ICP)
  2. Prove repeat monthly spend and renewal
  3. Scale sales + creator ops
  4. Expand tiers (private → public → tier-1/grad)

Use of funds

This round is designed to get us from “working product + supply” to “repeatable revenue + scaled distribution.”

The raise

We’re raising a pre-seed to scale CampusCreator.

If you invest, you’re backing:

  1. A clear wedge in a real budget line item (enrollment marketing + communications)
  2. A model that benefits from network effects (more campuses → more creators → better output → easier sales)
  3. A product built for recurring monthly spend

How you can help (even more than investing)

If you’re reading this, intros matter.

We want warm intros to:

  1. VP/Director of Enrollment Marketing
  2. Social media managers at colleges/universities
  3. Enrollment marketing agencies
  4. Anyone responsible for content output tied to enrollment goals

FAQ

Do schools get full rights to the content?

Yes. Schools need content they can repost, run as ads, and use across channels. CampusCreator is built around that requirement.

How do you maintain quality?

Brief templates + examples, creator vetting, and an approval workflow. Schools maintain control every step of the way. Quality improves as creators build a track record.

Is this just another influencer platform?

No. This is not about follower count (though our platform does track that for performance and expanding reach through student audiences). It’s about getting reliable, authentic campus content on demand.

What stops a school from doing this themselves?

They already try. The hard part is the system: recruiting and paying creators, managing briefs, collecting files, handling approvals, and doing it every week with consistency and at scale.
