What do public investors get with their $100 investment?

This depends on what our valuation is at the next round. For simplicity, suppose we raise our Series B at a $100m valuation. The $100 will convert into equity based on an $80m valuation (20% discount). If the company eventually exits for $1.2b, that would be a 14x return on investment assuming no further dilution (i.e. we don't raise again after Series B).
