I was going on vacation to Lake Tahoe with my family and I wanted to rent a pontoon boat for the kids to tour the lake. I went to a traditional marina and found out the price was $550+ insurance to rent the boat for 4 hours. That was more than the condo I rented for 3 nights. I thought there had to be a website that introduced people like me with people that lived close by or on the lake that would be willing to let me rent their boat for a couple hours at a better price point. Thus Phorent.com was born....
