The struggle started here.

My name is Traci Cooke, I wanted to share my business and personal experience with you and maybe we can better serve a community in desperate need of help. I am the owner of a second chance leasing organization. You maybe wondering what that means so let me further explain. 

I myself have struggled with many obstacles in my lifetime such as addiction, run ins with the law, homelessness, living in poverty, and domestic violence. Stemming from being raised in a toxic household growing up it carried into my adulthood. 

Today I am proud to say I am 6 years sober have no criminal cases pending and fought a long hard battle to get my 5 children home. Though the 6 of us are happy and healthy today. We lack one thing. A place to call home. Because of my background and my mistakes I acquired a few evictions which seems to haunt me every time I think I see light at the end of the tunnel. 

No one will rent to me and I have worked long and hard to turn my life around for myself and my children. That leads me to even though my choices were my own and I certainly served my time on those, why do I not deserve a second chance or anyone in my position really. 

I am a firm believer this is just a small piece as to why individuals with past struggles with addiction and criminal histories resort back. Why keep doing good if we keep getting kicked down. Let’s save lives and give some hope that there are brighter days ahead. Let’s give them a second chance. 

I myself like I said do not have a place of my own to call home but if I can help just one person hold the keys to a safe stable place to live I feel like my mission will be accomplished. This all can be achieved by recruiting private landlords, acquiring properties and fixing them up. With all the abandon properties in the city of Indianapolis let’s give someone a place to live.
