Founded in 2018 by Navy SEALs, engineers, doctors, and pro athletes, our mission is simple: preserve the sports we love and protect the people who play them.
We make helmets that are up to 40% lighter, safer, and trusted by all 32 NFL teams and over 100 NCAA programs. With cutting-edge materials and a relentless focus on performance, we’re redefining what head protection should be.
Football helmets haven’t kept up with the speed or pace of today's game.
Most legacy helmets are heavy, outdated, and built to pass lab tests, not protect real athletes on the field. On the field, heavier helmets lead to more rapid fatigue, loss of control, and higher impact energies. We believe a lighter helmet reduces injury risk and improves player performance.
Imagine sprinting with a bowling ball taped to your head instead of a baseball hat. Every stride, that extra mass tugs at your neck. If you collide with someone, the heavier load hits with far more force. More weight means more momentum, and more momentum means bigger and more dangerous impacts.
Originating from professional auto-racing (SG Helmets) and drawing on materials used in military aviation helmets, we set out to build the lightest, safest helmet in football.
Motorsport and military aviation programs spend millions (if not billions) to trim a few ounces from a race car or fighter jet because every ounce matters. We asked a simple question. If lighter materials protect drivers and pilots, why not bring the same advantage to football?
We use advanced nylon and composite shells from auto racing, aerospace-grade EPP foam, and precision 3D-printed liners. The result is a helmet line-up that is up to 40% lighter than competitor models, with a weight as low as 3 pounds. Less mass lowers impact energy, improves fit, and keeps players on the field.
We hold 11 U.S. design and utility patents that protect our products including shell lay-ups, dual-density foam systems, and lattice architecture. Proof that every ounce and every curve serves a purpose.
Our partner K3D (winner of the NFL Helmet Challenge and recipient of nearly $1 million in funding to develop next-gen helmet technology) lets us simulate thousands of impacts and print new liner geometries in hours, not months. Faster testing means smarter improvements and constant product evolution.
The independent lab at Virginia Tech ranks the Apache #1 for safety and performance in both youth and varsity categories. One high school team saw concussions drop from 17 to 2 after switching to LIGHT Helmets. Lower weight improved performance, and the safety results were unprecedented.
Every component is designed to reduce impact, improve comfort, and support peak performance. Our helmets are built with science, tested for results, and trusted from youth leagues to the NFL.
We’ve assembled and operationalized a uniquely experienced team that’s driving the existing business. This team solved many early-stage product challenges. When you invest in us, you’re not just putting your money into a good product. You’re deploying capital to a team that knows how to use it in order to market, sell and continue innovating and expanding. We have a business and a superior product because we work with active NFL players like Cam Jordan and Tyrod Taylor, former players like Tony Romo, business experts like the Smith family; and design, engineering and racing experts like the management team at LIGHT. And because (unlike any other helmet maker in our industry) we have a medical advisory board of neurologists, neurosurgeons, forensic pathologists, trauma doctors, former NFL doctors and physical therapists.
We are already solving the weight problem on fields across the country. Strong sales, high profile backers, and a protected technology platform position LIGHT Helmets for scalable growth and lasting impact on player safety.
Our model balances high-performance products with a lean cost base. We sell through 4 complementary channels to reach teams and athletes wherever they shop while keeping fixed expenses low.
Helmet and facemask sales drive the bulk of revenue. Accessories, seasonal replacement parts, and annual reconditioning add recurring income.
Outsourced component manufacturing reduces corporate overhead, shortens design cycles, and lets us ramp volume without heavy capital outlay. As unit volume rises, cost per helmet falls while accessories lift the average order value.
The research, time and cost that went into our first line of products also gives us a more efficient path to product portfolio expansion. Our product roadmap, in the next 18 months, includes not just more tackle helmets and flag headgear, but also hockey and construction, and a bit further out, even apparel.
Nearly 6 million tackle football players compete in the United States, and international participation is rising each year. Helmet demand also grows because programs replace 14-20% of their inventory each season. With participation up 8% in 2024, the U.S. tackle helmet and accessories market should reach $500 million by 2029.
Flag football is the fastest growing sport in America and the fastest growing female team sport. Hockey helmets add another sizable segment. Together with tackle, these three markets create a combined helmet opportunity of about $1.8 billion by 2029.
But we’re not stopping there. Our technology is primed to expand into global sports, military, and industrial applications. With a $15B+ total addressable market across all helmet categories, we’re poised to lead the future of head protection. Growing demand for safer equipment (combined with regulatory pressure) makes this a rare timing opportunity.
With regulatory pressure increasing and demand rising for safer gear, the timing has never been better. We’re positioned to lead this shift in the industry.
Our business has healthy projected margins and a path to over $150 million in annual sales inside five years.
We expect to be profitable in 2026 and to widen both gross and net margins each year as unit volume rises, cost of goods falls, and SG&A shrinks as a percentage of revenue.
By 2029, base-case projections show $37 million in EBITDA and 5 year projections show over $150 million in revenue.
Our growth formula is straightforward: use new funding to meet surging demand, amplify our brand, and roll proven technology into adjacent markets. Each helmet on the field increases visibility, which accelerates adoption, widens competitive moat, and compounds returns for investors.
The next era of sports safety starts here.
We will build the world’s leading head health and safety company. Football is step one. Flag, hockey, construction, and other high-impact fields follow. Each new category spreads our impact and proves that lighter, smarter equipment keeps people safer.
We are owned by players, built for players. NFL veterans, rising stars, and industry leaders guide every design choice and back us with their own capital. They know what it takes to stay on the field. Now you can stand shoulder to shoulder with them.
