2
Travellers are constantly wanting more: they are confused and impatient, and want convenience without compromise
3
Travel operators/providers are not well equipped: labour is the biggest cost, they have limited data, and no easy way exists to upsell/scale
4
Total spend on accommodation in 2019 was $14B, dwarfed by total overnight spend while travelling in 2019 at over $110B.

Our Team

Since founding Roomerang in 2016, I've managed over 200 properties, checked in over 85,000 travellers and cleaned more than 15,000 times. I found no easy way exists right now: to distribute local food/supplies to those in need, to support workers in lockdown, or to help with proper cleaning, sanitising and disinfecting of homes

The Story of KEYNINJA

James founded Roomerang, an Airbnb management company in 2016. As it grew, he found himself on a busy Friday checking in travellers all over the city in Melbourne, literally like a Ninja.

We tried passenger-less key deliveries through UBER

Our first attempt to get around this issue was by booking an UBER to send keys to guests as they arrived to their accommodation. Some guests could also stop at our office and collect keys, after which we would then send them in an UBER. We were also booking UBERs to pick up keys from cleaners, homeowners and tradespeople frequently.

We joined SPARK Deakin University accelerator

Our big break came when we joined the Deakin University accelerator in 2018. With $10K equity-free funding, we started hiring people on motorbikes to deliver the keys.

Here's our original SPARK Deakin Demo Day pitch from 2018:

Someone else believes in us - Skalata Ventures

Rohan and Maxine from Skalata Ventures (supported by Paul Little, one of Australia's billionaires) believed in our product which allowed us to go through a 6-month seed investment program with tailored mentorship and coaching. We met an amazing cohort of founders, learned, laughed and cried, and finally got our governance sorted. It also opened up our first round of seed funding from another private investor.

This was a defining moment for us because we were able to validate our idea, double-down, and grow our reach across Australia. We improved the product, picked up a plethora of new enterprise clients and grew 30% month-on-month from January to December in 2019.

The "Ninja" platform

We've always wanted to deliver anything for anyone, anywhere using our network of trusted Ninjas. Starting from the travel industry, it had always made more sense to stick with what we knew. However, now that travel has slowed down, as the saying goes:

"When one door closes, another one opens!"

We're excited at this new direction and hope to share in this journey with you!

We're Ninjas, and we're trained for all types of terrain
