Team

Are you a fan of CRAZY RICH ASIANS and THE BIG SICK?? Then, LOVE AT FIRST ARRANGEMENT is for you!

We want to produce a movie with you. In the recent past, most people couldn't easily invest in motion pictures nor be helpful in any way in making films these days. Your only choice was pledging through platforms like Kickstarter or Indiegogo, AND if you couldn't share in any profits the movie would have made, then why pledge? The industry has changed and now WeFunder CAN help you own a piece of the pie, well in our case the rice cake.

Short term goal: produce the best romantic-comedy movie we can.

Long term goal: continue to market the film to create a revenue stream for decades to come as we believe romantic-comedies are timeless AND to sell the film to successful streamers as well as rewarding our team as deserved.

The Film Festival Path

We plan to take Love at First Arrangement through the film festival circuit once the movie is complete with the potential it has to receive much critical acclaim as shown in the visuals above. It is a well-tested track to get our move distributed successfully. The more acclaim, the more leverage we have to stand on when negotiating.

There's a big push at many film festivals to see original stories coming from the Asian American market. We'd love nothing more than to be among the best films being developed. Our dedication and passion has no limits because we want to showcase a range of character experiences and cultural elements that come from the origins of Indian and Korean descents living in America.

We trust our film will stand out in all markets and are excited to call "ACTION!"

Romantic Comedies - Making a Comeback

Romantic Comedies are on the rise again and the market is hungry for more. People crave gooey love stories, the chase, the question of, will it work out by the end?

Audiences anticipate the heart-clenching feeling when two people encounter a conflict, when they fall in and out of love. Why not give people more of that, the roller coaster of conflicts they have to overcome with the people they love the most.

Rom-coms are messy intimate moments that we can relate to and as humans we empathize with the fight it takes to get there, because that’s romantic, and that’s comedy.

Director's Statement - Jamie Keener

"Love at First Arrangement has themes of independence, choice and the duty of traditional marriage. Being a Korean-American you're taught it's for stability, it’s for status, and your family is in control. Instead of fighting it, I wrote about it.

I had discussed with Eddie about the pressures of marrying in Asian culture and after reading one my stories, he said “I really like the character portrayal of your mother the most." I realized the next spin on a romantic comedy is making the mothers an integral part of the story. And that is how Love at First Arrangement was created. Family is not easy, family is love, it’s tradition, and it’s complicated. We are excited to share all the messy bits with you.

- Jamie Keener

Director's Statement - Eddie Vigil V

"Jamie said it very well in her statement above. We're making a very specific movie here, with the melding of many cultures. Indian, Korean, and American, all taking place in the United States. The world grows smaller and smaller every day and Love at First Arrangement is exciting to me in that way.

I'm always seeking to expand my understanding of others, to metaphorically put myself in the shoes of people that do not look like me and try to see the world through their perspective. How things change. How they stay the same. Let's venture into this fun, crazy, wacky, mash up of a story together, shall we?"
