🧳 iPass was born from a missed business opportunity.

In late 2019, Frederick attempted to renew his passport at the local post office. He completed the required renewal application process, along with submitting the required photo. However, several weeks later, Frederick received a letter in the mail stating the application was denied due to “the passport photos submitted are not acceptable”. He had to go back to the post office and resubmit his photo.

One Monday morning in early 2020, iPass founder Frederick Mulkey was packing his suitcase, ready to travel from Orlando to London for a significant business meeting with British clients later in the week.

He had his suit, laptop, airline ticket… but where was his passport? He turned his house upside down, but it wasn’t there.

The next few days saw a stressful and frenzied rush as Frederick attempted to replace his passport ahead of traveling.

He found out that a standard passport application takes 4 to 6 weeks to process, and an expedited application takes 2 to 3 weeks.

He made his application.✨ 

However, after wasting the best part of a day, an agency appointment was rejected as he wasn’t deemed to be in a ‘life or death emergency situation’.

Frederick ended up having to delay his trip and his meeting for just over a month, at great cost and even greater frustration.

This unfortunate incident was the catalyst for change. He knew there must be a better way.

This is when iPass was born.

After we complete the app development, we aim to receive government approval within 12 months.

Our primary revenue stream will be the submission of passports.

We will offer three duration-based pricing levels to our customers (Standard: $100, Expedited: $150, Express: $250, not including government fees). Each of these is a 4x markup over our direct costs.

In addition to processing passports, we will offer a variety of passport applications, including passport renewals, replacing stolen or lost passports, and passports for children. We also offer additional revenue streams such as photos, notary charges, expedited re-entry, and travel booking.

While the first two years of life will not generate revenue and will operate at a loss, we expect to become profitable quickly, as soon as we are able to begin processing applications.

In fact, with a market share of just 0.24% of the passports issued, we will nearly hit $8 million in revenue and a Net Profit of 42.7%, translating to $3.3 million.

We have several exit strategies, including a possible IPO, although we also foresee selling the business to interested parties, including the US Government.
