I’ve been a VR user and enthusiast since the days of the Oculus Kickstarter. It’s been amazing seeing the medium grow and transform how we think about gaming and entertainment. But I’m also painfully aware that we are in the early days of the VR/AR industry. The tech is limited, the market is small, and the commercial interest is experimental at best. However, this is a common phase for all consumer technologies and it’s inevitable that the technologies here get better and the applications more useful. That’s especially true for productivity tools. Immersed VR is tackling a hard, important challenge: helping people work better and collaborate with others in a world where it’s difficult to simply get in a room together. The world looks obviously different in 2020, but the way people work and work together has been changing for years. I think Renji and his small team understand these problems well and have what it takes to show how useful VR, and subsequently AR, can be for productivity.
Working remotely is hard. We made Immersed to be more productive... wherever you are. To date, we raised almost $2M since we graduated from TechStars. With backgrounds from Google, Microsoft, and Y Combinator, we are the perfect team to do this.
We are proud to announce that we have partnered with Facebook to launch to the highly-curated Oculus Store, rolling out Immersed to millions of users later this summer.
Back in 2017 when we went through Techstars Chicago, within 4 weeks, we had over 3,000 people sign up for this product, which didn't exist at that point. Now, we have onboarded over 10,000 users in the last year before even launching on the Oculus Store — which currently has an estimated 10,000,000 users.
Immersed is a small but mighty team with some of the top engineers in the world — along with incredible investors and advisors who have supported our mission since day one.
Jake Thomsen, Partner at Sovereign's Capital, previously invested $600K and is investing another $50K into the Wefunder round. Daniel Ha, co-founder of Disqus, the largest commenting app that has touched more than 2 billion users, is working daily with Immersed to build the best possible user experience.
Working in VR lets you enter a mode of deep work more frequently and for longer periods in a portable, distraction-free virtual workspace.
We bring distributed teams together and solo workers into a distraction-free virtual workplace. Solo workers can increase their productivity by 48% while in "Deep Work" mode, and recover 16 hours weekly by eliminating distractions.
(Immersed on Bloomberg, interviewing with Anthony Lacavera, Founder of WIND Mobile,
sold for $1.3 billion).
Demand for a VR work and remote collaboration tools is at an all-time high, especially in light COVID-19 and the demand it creates for remote teams. With falling VR hardware prices, massive investments from the tech giants (Facebook, Apple, Google, Microsoft, etc,), and lower tech-barriers/prices, VR is primed for huge growth and mass adoption.
We are raising a $1M Round to continue building and supporting Immersed as we launch to the Oculus Store and start ramping up growth. Refining consumer experience, adding enterprise features, and scaling our userbase will be our priorities before we raise a larger Series A next year or so.
Immersed will be the platform that brings distributed teams together in the remote working economy. Let's do this!
