Memo

It's story time.

It was a breezy November evening when a group of college friends were building up an appetite for Mexican food from On The Border. It was quite the chaotic scene there. The dinner time traffic coupled with the weekend rush; the restaurant staff were operating at max capacity. After the group finished eating, they waited for their server to come around and give them their check. They turned their heads, left and right, looking for their server but to no avail. When he finally came back to their table 20 minutes later, they realized he had been busy splitting a check for a table between 11 people!

They realized the wasted time and decreased guest satisfaction at restaurants during rush hours and set out to create an on premise ordering solution that solved issues like these.

The mission of Glyde is to work harmoniously with staff to fight increasing inflation and labor shortages.

Food inflation is as high as 14.2%, accelerating for the 12th consecutive month as of May 2022.

More than 6% of staff will leave their job by the end of each month.

Increasing food costs and decreasing labor availability are pinching restaurant profit margins and making it tough for many to stay open. Over 90,000 restaurants have decreased their operating hours or shut down since the beginning of 2020.

The casual dining industry is ripe for optimization as labor turnover rate reaches as high as 66.3%. This means that restaurant owners are finding it hard to retail labor as well as hire and train new employees.

Our solution was to give guests the control of their dining experience, with their phones, while maintaining the restaurant's own service model. Thereby decreasing the need for labor overall.

Just one QR code at the table. The guest can scan it via their phone to then order & pay for their food. No apps, downloads, or new hardware.

  • The platform holds a custom theme to match the enterprise brand.
  • Dynamic up-selling & cross-selling during every step of the guest experience.
  • Save costs on new menus & labor.

These features of Glyde help increase the average check sizes at restaurants by up to 22%.

Glyde allows for restaurants to grow brand loyalty members by 4 times the normal rate. Each guest, as they go to order, can be prompted to become a loyalty member in this new medium at the table, where they can gain and redeem points. This can drive customer retention and ultimately gives more data and insight on the behavior of guests on premise.

Our features are built to scale with growing brands and assimilate seamlessly into their existing operations. Below are some custom features that we have built that tend to the specific needs of busy restaurant brands.

  • OrderQ, an order throttling engine, batches and schedules order to the kitchen based on things like prep-time and food cost. This helps with controlling the number of tickets flowing to the kitchen directly from a guest's phone.
  • With TabSync, servers can take orders from guests and add it to their tab on Glyde directly from the POS system as they normally would. This helps our tech assimilate into every existing restaurant service model by maintaining the same level of hospitality casual dining brands strive to provide, but automate the tasks they want.

We built our platform to fit into the enterprise sector, with BI analytics, an open API, and an integration stack of over 45+ partners.

So let's talk numbers.

With over 200+ active locations today, we have over 1000+ new locations in our pipeline.

By the end of Q4 2024, we plan to onboard our entire pipeline setting newer goals to achieve.

And one of our most loyal customers, Curry Up Now, has a lot to say about how our technology has helped them during a difficult labor shortage.

Curry Up Now, a brand bringing creative and modern takes on Indian street food, was looking for ways to optimize their on-premise ordering process.

With over 90% of Curry Up Now’s on premise orders passing through Glyde, they were able to optimize their workforce and increase check sizes by up to 24%.

We play in a competitive and saturated space. Which is why it was important to carve our niche out carefully.

We offer a fixed pricing model. Due to our flexible product, we can offer this same plan to a wide variety of service models in the casual dining industry.

Each client requires at least 4 integrations. This makes onboarding SMB clients a roadblock to growth and which is why we have focused on enterprise from the beginning.

So as we end this story, we want to write a new one. We are raising $1M to help us launch over 2500 locations and reach a $2M annualized run rate by the end of 2024. We also plan on releasing new products to serve on premise restaurant needs and build our vision.
