GenWell was founded by experienced health tech operators who have spent years inside insurance, marketplaces, and direct-to-consumer care—and saw firsthand how broken health discovery has become.

OUR FOUNDER'S STORY

I spent years building digital health products at some of the largest healthcare companies in the country. I understood the system better than most people ever would.

And then I got sick.

What followed was thousands of dollars in out-of-pocket costs on a high-deductible health plan, specialist appointments that led nowhere, and the particular exhaustion of being a woman in a medical system that kept telling me my labs were normal.

At some point I stopped waiting for answers and started doing my own research. I went deep — hours across forums, articles, social platforms. And eventually, I found it: a thirty-second video from a doctor on Instagram that changed the trajectory of my health. The information I needed had existed the whole time.

But it took years to find it. Thousands of dollars wasted before I got there. And when I finally found that video — there was no way to verify the doctor, no way to find similar trusted voices, and no path to actual care. The discovery dead-ended. I had to start over to find someone who could help me act on what I'd learned.

That's the problem GenWell solves.

Not the lack of information — there's plenty of it. The lack of infrastructure to make it trustworthy, navigable, and connected to real next steps. I built GenWell because no one should spend years and thousands of dollars finding a thirty-second video that was always there.


THE PROBLEM

80% of women start their health journey online — before or instead of seeing a doctor. This isn't a preference. It's a necessity. Rising costs, long wait times, and fragmented care have pushed women to self-educate before entering the system.

Where do they go? Google. WebMD. TikTok. Instagram. Reddit.

Social platforms have become the default health discovery layer. TikTok Shop alone captures $9B+ annually in U.S. health, wellness, and beauty spend. But while these platforms are fast, engaging, and personalized — they are dangerously unmoderated. Up to 50% of online health content is misleading, outdated, or harmful. Fake doctors and scam products outperform qualified experts. Algorithms reward virality over clinical credibility.

67% of women regret a health decision they made based on something they found online. Legitimate providers spend hundreds of dollars per patient trying to compete in systems that were never built for them.

This isn't a healthcare failure. It's a discovery failure.

GenWell is the infrastructure layer that connects viral health demand to clinical trust.

AI-guided search. Johns Hopkins-backed verified creator content. A care marketplace where women can act on what they find. So a woman can go from symptom to trusted next step in minutes — not years.

We are not a content app. We are the operating system for modern healthcare conversion — where demand meets supply in the $68B women's health market.


WHY NOW

Three forces are colliding. Health discovery has permanently moved to social platforms. Social commerce in health is growing at 36% CAGR and is not reversing. And AI now enables personalized, contextual health guidance at scale.

Every adjacent player is structurally prevented from filling this gap. Social platforms cannot add clinical moderation without destroying their engagement-based business model. Legacy health platforms cannot retrofit social-era UX onto compliance-built infrastructure. The infrastructure layer between viral demand and clinical trust does not yet exist. GenWell is building it.

BUSINESS MODEL

GenWell is a demand-first marketplace. We build consumer demand first, prove engagement and conversion, then activate the supply side as paying customers.

Year 1: Build and measure consumer search behavior. No monetization. Prove women engage, convert, and return.

Year 2–3: Convert providers already on the platform into paying subscribers. By conversion time, their content is already live and driving measurable patient inquiries. No cold outreach required. Provider CAC is structurally below industry standard.

Year 4+: Transaction fees, premium placement, and proprietary health behavior data.

Trust, data, and engagement compound together.


WHAT THIS ROUND UNLOCKS

This WeFunder is a community SPV — opened so our broader network can participate alongside our strategic angels before we close.

The capital accelerates three things: refining search and engagement features with our 200-woman pilot cohort, completing AskGen AI training on our video library, and reaching the proof points that make our spring pre-seed obvious.
