Charles, a yearly domain fee is a part of your server maintaining autonomy from any company, including Daplie. However, for device owners that choose not to have a URL of their own (as they may not want to pay the yearly fee), we do have the option for owners to use their "NAME.daplie.me" domain name at little to no cost ($1/year).
