Our Team

Caelum Resources - Turning Waste into Africa Wealth

Our Beginnings

We started by disrupting the flawed carbon credit market, which has exploited underdeveloped communities for thirty years. Recognizing the limitations of traditional archaic methods, we developed Caelum Biochar, a transformative approach to carbon sequestration that addresses local and global needs. We focus on making the carbon market transparent, equitable, and impactful.

Turning Crop Waste into Africa Wealth

Biochar, charcoal's eco-friendly cousin, offers a powerful solution to address pressing environmental and economic challenges in Africa.

Biochar production can transform agricultural waste, such as crop residues and wood, into sustainable economies and carbon credits.

Why Africa?

The Congo Basin is the Earth's second lung after the Amazon.

Africa represents the heart of our operations and the future of the climate economy. With untapped resources and communities ready for sustainable growth, Africa offers an unparalleled opportunity to create real, lasting change.

Over a decade, we’ve built strong relationships with local communities and governments, ensuring that our model reinvests in Africa’s future by creating jobs, restoring lands, and empowering communities through sustainable practices.

How Communities Benefit

Our model prioritizes community involvement and benefits at every step. Through our biochar projects, local communities will experience direct economic, environmental, and social advantages:

  • Job Creation: Biochar production facilities will create long-term jobs, boosting local economies.
  • Agricultural Revitalization: Biochar enhances soil fertility, improving crop yields and food security.
  • Revenue Sharing: Communities will receive a portion of the carbon credit revenues, ensuring they directly benefit financially from the project.
  • Training: Local residents will be trained to manage biochar production facilities, transfer skills, and build long-term capacity.
  • Infrastructure Development: Our projects bring infrastructure improvements, such as better roads and access to renewable energy.

Transparent Carbon Credits

Partnering with RippleNami, NextGen and Fiutur, we use technology to ensure traceability and transparency, making every carbon credit fully verifiable. RippleNami's Carbon Clarity and Fiutur SMART Forest Program ensure that all project activities—remote sensing to afforestation—are cutting-edge, transparent, and scalable. NextGen is the first truly global facility of its kind, bringing together leading multi-national buyers from across Asia, Europe, and North America to promote the market for high quality, certified carbon removals (CDRs) from technological projects.

Initial Country of Focus: Malawi

Caelum Resources' initial biochar projects begin in Malawi (denoted in green), prioritizing countries with ample agricultural waste, supportive policies, and high carbon credit potential. This phased rollout maximizes impact while uplifting local economies.

Following Malawi, we will expand to Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Botswana, selected for favorable agricultural practices, biomass availability, infrastructure, and strong partnerships. Each location will showcase our model's scalability and positive impact.

The funding focuses on our Malawi pilot project; its success will guide our expansion strategy across Africa.

Malawi Maize Overview

Maize is the primary staple food crop in Malawi, with most production coming from smallholder farmers, and is considered the most important crop grown in the country. With a significant portion of cultivated land dedicated to its cultivation - 1.5M hectares in 2024 or 60% of its arable land - Malawi faces challenges from climate change and resource scarcity. The resulting waste is a valuable resource.

Each hectare of maize crop generates approximately 1 ton of biomass waste. This waste is ideal for biochar production but requires specialized equipment - which is the focus of our fundraising efforts.

Biochar provides a sustainable alternative to fertilizers, improve crop yields and through our revenue-sharing agreements will generate much needed additional income for farmers.

Maize Waste to Biochar Process

The biochar production facility will be in Kasungu, Malawi as shown on the map above. Kasungu is a town in the Central Region of Malawi with a population of just under 60,000 people. Our Kasungu location, within a region producing 29% of Malawi's maize, positions us strategically to support farmers, boost yields, and mitigate environmental impact.

The facility will convert 60,000 tons of maize biomass waste annually into biochar generating $16.4 million per year. We are seeking an initial round of $1 million in funding to bring this project to life.

Our Model: Biochar and Beyond

Our biochar technology converts organic waste into a powerful carbon sequestration tool. It’s a win-win for the environment, as biochar traps carbon while revitalizing soil and improving agricultural yields, most importantly your investment qualifies for valuable carbon credits.

Through the work we've done to date, our projects qualifies for and will be listed on the NextGen platform which will facilitiate and secure the sale of the carbon credits on the global market. In addition, we have offset agreements with Savenda for the biochar itself, ensuring revenue right from the start.

Financial Projections

Financial Highlights:

  1. Revenue Certainity: We have PRESOLD biochar with Savenda and will be listed on NexGen for the sale of carbon credits.
  2. Revenue Growth: Increases from $278K in Year 1 to $16.4M in Year 5, driven by carbon credit and biochar revenue.
  3. EBITDA: Turns positive in Year 2 ($225K) and grows to $10.5M by Year 5.
  4. Expenses: Rise from $642K in Year 1 to $5.9M in Year 5, including community reinvestment starting in Year 3.
  5. CAPEX: Steady investments grow from $439K in Year 1 to $1.4M in Year 5.
  6. Cash Flow (After Tax): Climbs from $0 in Year 1 to $7.2M by Year 5.

A clear trajectory of growth, profitability, and community impact.

High Carbon Credit Revenue & Investment Opportunity

To accelerate our growth and scale our biochar production, we are seeking a $1 million in the 1st traunch. Here’s how the funds will be allocated:

Projected Returns and Impact

We expect a rapid return on investment as demand for carbon credits grows, especially with corporations seeking verifiable, transparent, and impactful carbon offsets.

Beyond financial returns, the environmental and social impact will be significant: we’ll sequester millions of tons of carbon, revitalize degraded lands, and uplift African communities through job creation and infrastructure improvements.

We partner with local communities, agricultural, biochar, and certification companies to empower communities, enhance soil health, boost crop yields, and ensure fair, transparent benefits.

Carbon Credits: Time for Change

For too long, carbon credits have been a vehicle for greenwashing.

Caelum Resources is uniquely positioned to disrupt the carbon credit market and lead the transformation toward a more transparent, impactful, and scalable carbon economy. The initial $1 million investment will allow us to accelerate our biochar production, create measurable social impact, and generate significant returns for investors and communities - 45% IRR over 5 years.

Now is the time to invest in a future where carbon credits address climate challenges and bring tangible benefits to the people who need them most.
