Great question. We plan to launch a fund in parallel to invest pro-rata in our portfolio companies. At this time—per our goal of "founder friendly first"—we have no plans to include warrants or other similar features in our agreement. Instead, as we build traction, we will likely ask for more equity upfront. Thank you!

Will you be allowing animal testing to be used by the startups accepted by Brazen Bio?

Thanks, Jefferson. Our goal at Brazen Bio is to help scientific founders bring their innovations to patients by supporting them at the earliest stages. In many cases, this early proof of concept work can be carried out in vitro (e.g., test tubes, cell culture). At this time—for drugs/therapeutics—regulators do require in vivo preclinical pharmacology and safety data prior to human clinical trials and market approval. This may or may not be required for diagnostics.

Great question! There are many organizations/clubs that support biotech founders, usually loosely or formally affiliated with universities and local governments. We don’t really see them as competition, but potential partners because there is so much unmet medical need and plenty of rising bioentrepreneurs who need help.
