Memo

Madelaine D'Angelo founded Arthena in 2014. A specialist in data analysis of the global art market and the intersection of fine art and technology, Madelaine noticed that many would-be collectors weren’t sure where or how to start. Meanwhile, she wanted to help art advisors expand their networks and reach the new generation of collectors comfortable transacting online. Arthena’s accessible, innovative, and educational platform fills this gap.

Arthena launched with top global accelerator AngelPad's Spring 2014 class. The company’s investors span five continents and include Foundation Capital, Aslanoba Capital, Beamonte Investments, C15 Ventures, and 2020 Ventures.

Madelaine received her masters in art and museums from Harvard University, collaborating on her thesis with the Director Emeritus of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Philippe de Montebello. They explored the proliferation of private collections and emerging trends in collector behavior. She has worked in the directors’ offices at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, and the Smithsonian Institution’s Freer and Sackler Galleries, among others.
