Can any typical consumer download this application to their computer? How much does it cost?

Consumers can download the app on iPhone or Android devices utilizing the App Store and Play Store. We do not currently have support for desktop but our SDK does allow developers to develop desktop apps utilizing our platform.

can i send ether or REP to the aribitz wallet?

Not yet. But you will be able to use your Airbitz account to login into and secure your Augur app which can then hold your REP. We do plan on supporting other cryptos in the future including ether and REP. Once our wallet natively supports ether and REP you'll be able to see and spend the same balance you have in the Augur app right from within Airbitz. No need to transfer funds between the two.

It does allow you to control your own data securely and privately. That data can be keys for Bitcoin. Therefore Airbitz doesn't act like a bank (who holds your money) but rather as a digital vault that's on your own phone or computer that only you can access.
