## Q&A
- Q: You have been working on this for many years. At what point will this go to market and start realizing revenue and at what point would this be profitable?
- A: Hi, Craig great Question! We are taking orders literally now for the new generation of our technology. The difference to previous versions is that we can now deal with real mixed waste, not just wood (which is not waste) -We are starting to realize revenue now even though a lot is from government projects, to be honest. We are planning the larger role out 2022, this year we have concluded testing in India for Tata Power, we are doing a pilot for a massive project in the Dominican Republic, Opening our first commercial unit in Indonesia in Juli and one in Japan (Or Indonesia again) plus one large project for a German University. In summary, we are raising funds for massive growth, not R&D anymore (that part is, of course, ongoing but funded. We are in the process of consolidating the German and the US company (EX Zero Carbon Inc. over the next week. Revenue about 250k during covid plus 35-50.000 USD per month to our R&D partners from Government Funds. We are profitable right at zero debt now but we need to spend money to grow, so we will lose money for the foreseeable future as we are aiming for a Series A by the End of the Year.
- Q: Great contribution towards reducing CO2 emissions! Proud to be part of this amazing country and let's save the planet for future generations from CO2 emissions.
- A: Thank you Jeanne! Really Appreciate your comment!
- Q: You mentioned that we would benefit from previous investment of $150 million. Can you explain that more?
- A: Dear Craig, we are working on real high-tech solutions and there has been a very steep learning curve and it took us a long time to get to an industrialization level ready for global markets. We had to solve the issue of process stabilization but also cost, level of training needed to operate, and so on. We are building complex thermochemical reactors and put them into people's basements. One day of testing in Lab conditions cost in Germany about 20.000 USD. Usually, companies ready for the market have a massive debt load already. We don't, which I think is a great foundation. The team bringing this machine to market is still the same that was funded by Kleiner Perkins, Wellington, Triple Point Capital, Waste Management Inc., and others in the past. We are benefiting from the experience and knowledge gathered during this long period of time working on the same subject. I hope that answers your question. All the best Julien
- Q: Do you intend to pay a dividend (post-conversion)?
- A: Hi Craig, that might actually be an option as we are going for a high-value build and operate model (waste2energy) as a Service. Our primary goal is to bring the valuation up of the company and find a strong strategic partner with a global reach.
- Q: It is important to speed up this transition and do more with the current plans. Our children and grandchildren need a livable planet to grow up on and we have not yet turned the corner to ensure their future. And this will be a great start for us.
- A: Thank you, Falah! You are right. We cannot wait any longer. I keep hoping the problem might solve itself but it is only getting worse!
- Q: This is in the area I was suggesting we do in our country! An excellent workout for the people turning the technology to be environmentally friendly.
- A: Thank you for Your Support! I hop you enjoyed the presentation yesterday!
- Q: I love everything seen, who wouldn't? But I am concerned by the lack of sales. The product has been in the pipeline for almost 15 years and revenue smaller than all the articles/trade shows/awards. If this is the answer we are looking for, why have you not sold millions of dollars of product yet? With all the government funding already received, what is the breakdown of usage of the 1m you are raising now? What are your current year-to-date sales and expected sales by year-end? What is the main reason all the accolades have not translated to sales to date?
- A: Dear Kevin, thank you so much for your questions. We are happy to share with you our financial projections and use of funds. Please drop me an email. As you can read in our history section, this is the second time our team is bringing a reactor generation to market. Our previous companies Entrade and Arensis, focussed on wood-waste only. Just in the time from 2016-2018, we have built over 200 power systems in eight countries and created as the operator assets valued at over 250 Mil. USD. The reason we are raising at such a low valuation is to start selling. In 2018 our last priced round was at a 250 Mil. Cap. I would like to get back there asap as our technology is ten times better now then back then. There is the opportunity. In 2018, a UK Investor took over the Group and still operates today under ENTRENCO (prev. ENTRADE). The Team of Zero Carbon included the CTO, CEO, Head of Engineering from ENTRADE went back to the lab to develop new IP to convert complex waste streams, not just wood. Being Government Funded, we don't feel comfortable selling machinery that has not been tested and validated by third parties for safety, emissions, and performance. The final Tests in India for Tata Power and at the Technical University in Zittau were after 30 rounds of testing concluded in February of this year, so very recent. We are raising capital to bring the product to global markets and execute existing LOIs and contracts. We are serving very selected customers in five countries this year. Our units are mass-produced ones ready, so we are planning a larger rollout in 2022. Until then, safety first. We are German after all and are very careful and proud of what we sell. We are putting 2000 Degree Fahrenheit Thermo-Chemical Reactors into people's basement. It's not a toy. Please feel free to ask follow-up questions.
- A: Hi Kevin, thank you for your message- believe me we all whish this would be a get rich quick scheme. There is a very simple answer- we are working on a highly complex product which we are designing to e safe even in someones backyard. It might be small but it's still a highly complex thermochemical high temperature reactor. The product was simply not ready. You might have noticed literally hundreds of companies claiming technical breakthroughs only to disappear soon after. It is incredibly costly and difficult to build an economically viable, stable system, that is super low on emissions and is safe. Every round of design, prototype, testing, analyzing, planning the next generation and so on is about 3 years when you are fast. It it were easy there would be no market.
- Q: Hi, I hope you are successful because your mission is very important. I wanted to start by looking at some of your media mentions but they are a little hard to find. Could you provide some links to your mentions in the more widely known outlets like Inc., Mashable, Bloomberg, CNN, LABJ, etc. Thanks!
- A: Hi Alan, thank you for asking. As you can read in our History Section our team has build two very successful companies in the past converting wood waste into energy. The last priced round was at 250 Mil. So you can find a lot about myself, Entrade the Hardware Manufacturer and Arensis the Private Equity Fund Operating Our Power Systems. Both companies have been taken over by UK Investment fund 2018. The core team has founded Zero Carbon to convert real-world waste streams. The last three years we have spent in the Lab trying the next generation which is mind-blowing. Our Technology and market potential is now much better than at 250 Mil. Valuation, also we are heavily government-funded to we are not losing money anymore. A great moment to grow and build an amazing global company. - Q: So, the intellectual property, which is the real value in this company, will be held by the German company, which we do not have ownership in.
- A: Hi Robert, thank you! Super important Questions. The US entity is planned be the shareholder of the German entity. Because of the risks of transborder pricing, it is unwise to move patents around. The US entity is contracted to the rights to the technology. Our main funder is the German Government so engineering should and has to stay in Germany. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
- Q: I have 2 questions: 1. How will you company succeed when so many others, like Plasco, have failed? 2. What happens to the non-organic solid waste that cannot be used for energy?
- A: Dear Sajad! Thank you for your Invest and great questions. We are looking forward to being working with you to support your mission in developing countries. Decentralized Waste Treatment is complex from multiple perspectives. First of all, the always-changing waste streams make it hard to develop a stable process and low emissions, as we don't want to create more problems than we solve. I believe that we adopted numerous steps that set us apart from our competition. First of all, we don't customize. Zero Carbon only develops two sizes and then optimized every component. Up-and Downscaling always comes with unforeseeable risks. We built systems like cars, not like power plants. Our systems have been designed from the beginning to be operated in remote areas and are fully remote-controlled, reducing the risk of human error. We have been building power systems consecutively for 1 Year; we believe that our engineering expertise is next to none (also, we are German) Our Team does not burn money. We have been de-risking our development by using Government Funds to the maximum, effectively leveraging our private equity investments. Our engineering back office is growing in Indonesia, further reducing our operational and manufacturing costs. We have learned how not to grow a company during a massive expansion during our previous company. Valuable lessons that are making us more robust now. We feel comfortable that we can convert most biomass waste streams thrown at us. We have optimized the machine to use husk and straw with contaminants, from a thermochemical perspective, the worse fuel we can find. Most non-organic waste streams can either be recycled (big majority) or landfilled (in the low % range) https://www.linkedin.com/in/julienuhlig/
- Q: I'm really liking the focus of this project. There's a massive opportunity in this space for innovation and disruption. Looking forward to seeing the impact this will produce.
- A: Thank you Vance. I hope you enjoyed the presentation last night. Come and check the machine soon. It does feel like magic. Drop me a message on WhatsApp +491782873624 or email. j.uhlig@ exventure.co if you have any other questions.
- Q: Hello! Can you provide data on the Paris project. Thanks
- A: Hi Richard, thank you for your message! I just got back from Paris this summer, where we wrapped up building our machine that turns sewage sludge, horse manure, and municipal solid waste into clean methane. We recently completed a final two-week continuous test run, met all the contractual requirements, and have already received payment for that phase. We still have about ten months left on our operational contract in Paris, so we’ll keep the machine running on-site, but at the same time we’re gearing up for our next project in Germany. If you’d like more details on the technology, our results, or how we plan to expand, feel free to drop me a message on WhatsApp at +6281239672340 or send an email to j.uhlig@exventure.co. I’m always happy to share more information and test data.
- Q: Hi Julien, In may 2021 you stated the following: you started small scale production, started to realize revenue and would bigger roll out in 2022. What is the current status of production 2022 full revenue and expected Q1 2023 revenue?
- A: Until the end of 2023- we are fully focussed on executing on the Paris Project and financing the last scale up of the unit. We are looking at EUR 1.2 Mil. - the Paris Contract has a massive 200 Mil.+ follow-up contract potential, so this is high priority. To execute on any additional projects, I need to raise funds and hire staff first, as it would overwhelm current capacities. That's why I am touring now-for the size of our team we are already beyond capacity and a little stuck.
- Q: is there any way i can verify that the german goverment is actually involved?
- A: Dear Malik- thank you. I think I just replied to you via WhatsApp. Unfortunately, I cannot share the official documents- there are currently three projects that are public- The funded entity is MFC GmbH (That is the German Company Zero Carbon holds to option in and all the rights) https://impact-cluster.de/ here are three of the top programs. Zero Carbon (MFC) was chosen by the German Government Grant to represent German Technology in three development clusters- Food waste 2 Energy for the UK, Waste2Fuelcell for the US, and Sludge to Biochar for Malaysia. The team was honored with Germanies Best Government-Funded Technology Compay at Hanover Trade Fair 2015.
- Q: The source comes from specific places, pellet-tized, and those pellets are given/sold to the owner of this machine to run their off grid power unit? The fear I have is this doesn't "feel" as zero carbon as the claim. Owners of the unit seemingly can't put their trash straight into the unit (I'm seeing the Back to the Future Delorean in my head! but not as simplified), and that runs the unit. Also, if you're turning these pellets into fuel, what is the exhaust particles if the pellets are organic and non-organic material, since it appears to be a gas exhaust? I guess I need more information or I am misunderstanding the tech
- A: Hi Brian. You are right, no conversion is Zero Carbon. Technically impossible. We have developed a very high-temperature solid carbon to syngas converter. About 2000 Fahrenheit. That gas is clean enough to feed an engine or even a fuel cell for super high efficient electrical conversion. The generated char is very rich in carbon, if you get that into the ground as fertilizer you are carbon negative. If you add the avoided GHG emissions from landfilling and rotting the process is as clean as it technically gets. So not zero carbon but at least carbon negative. Drop me a message on WhatsApp +6281239672340 or email. j.uhlig@ exventure.co happy to share more info and the test results from external testing at the Technical University in Zittau.
