# Yornest

We are scaling communication for member-based communities!

## Elevator pitch
Yornest is a chat application that allows users to create and organize group chats within their college campus. Existing chat applications don’t provide a user experience fit to scale beyond 100 people per group. So we developed a platform where users can create multiple chats within larger campus communities, and control over what kinds of notifications they receive from them. You can think of it as slack for consumers, or Facebook groups, but for younger generations that do not use Facebook!

   - Calvin, great question. Right now you cannot do messenger, but students are able to also connect their social accounts like Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter and so on.
2. **Hi, interesting idea.. can you help with few questions? 1) what is the use case beyond schools and campuses? 2) how will you make money? 3) what is the viral factor that will make students/people flock to a new service?**
   - We think of universities as a great proof of concept, and solid environment to go viral in, all-in-one. This is because of the compact need for students to continually organize and message between each other for seemingly non-stop events, social meet-ups, and forms of study. But this isn't the only place. We think that next, it would be cool to expand this concept man's try it out with middle/high school who have similar needs, and organizations like churches workplaces etc. Each time we woul...
3. **Whats the difference between this vs Slack?**
   - Calvin, thanks for you question! Interestingly, Slack solves this same issue for the professional work space; However, consumers in day to day life still don't have a solution. What we are doing is creating that solution, you can think of us as "Slack for consumers".
4. **Hi Michael, what is your exit strategy? Thanks!**
   - Max, thanks for the question. To be honest we want to grow this as big as possible, but if a life-changing offer came our way with amazing terms, and we knew Yornest would be in good hands, we would consider that too.
5. **What is the last day of fundraising?**
   - Ideruugan, thanks for asking, we are closing at the end of next week.

We think that next, it would be cool to expand this concept man's try it out with middle/high school who have similar needs, and organizations like churches workplaces etc. Each time we would be getting real-time feedback on which communities this kind of app resonates with. From there we will organically feel which use case next makes sense to expand the app to. We aim to initially make money through campus deals and targeted advertisement. The viral factor is how are marketing works with the app. The app allows mass shares and easy connections to others within your place of study. We go out to these schools and onboard huge activities clubs, fraternities and sororities, who then bring their full group onboard, and share. We tested this on Bellarmine Campus and got hundreds of signups and continued use through to today. We are now rinsing and repeating this strategy, across each campus.
